Pony Picnic Adventure with the beautiful Sidney 🤍
The Palomino Trust supported by PonyTales - Interactive, is delighted to be partnering with The Sen Support Space to deliver a relaxed and inclusive Pony Picnic Adventure in the beautiful surroundings of Chopwell Woods.
Together, we'll be creating a sensory-friendly outdoor experience where children with additional needs and their families can connect with nature, enjoy time with Sidney, and make special memories in a welcoming, understanding environment.
Our Pony Picnic Adventure has been thoughtfully designed to recognise that every child is unique. There is no pressure to follow a set timetable or complete every activity—families are encouraged to explore at their own pace and enjoy the experiences that best suit their child's interests and needs.
Throughout the morning there will be a number of breakout activity spaces, including:
🐴 Meet, groom and spend quiet time with Sidney, our gentle therapy pony.
🎨 Nature art inspired by the woodland.
🌳 A disability-friendly accessible woodland walk, with opportunities to pause, explore and enjoy the natural surroundings.
🏇 Hobby horse jumping, encouraging movement, imagination and confidence.
🧺 Bring your own picnic and enjoy quality time together as a family in the peaceful woodland setting.
Supported by PonyTales – Interactive™, the activities draw on the power of storytelling, imaginative play and meaningful interactions with ponies to help build confidence, communication, emotional wellbeing and a love of the outdoors.
Whether your child wants to groom Sidney, create woodland art, explore the forest or simply relax with a picnic, they'll be supported to take part in a way that feels comfortable for them.
We look forward to sharing a magical morning with you all. . .

🐴 Happy World Horse Day! 🐴
Today we celebrate the incredible bond between horses and people.
From inspiring children to discover a love of reading, to bringing comfort to those living with dementia, horses have an extraordinary way of connecting with us without saying a word.
Today we're especially grateful for Sidney, who reminds us every day that kindness, patience and a gentle nuzzle can make the biggest difference.
Happy World Horse Day to every horse, pony and the wonderful people who care for them.

Thank you so much for inviting us to spend the afternoon with everyone at St Philip Neri. 💙
Despite all the excitement of England's win and the buzz around the school, every single child treated Sidney with such kindness, gentleness and empathy. It was genuinely lovely to watch. They listened carefully, respected his space, and showed such compassion throughout the afternoon – they should all be incredibly proud of themselves.
Seeing the smiles, hearing the stories, watching everyone enjoying themselves reminded us exactly why we do what we do. We hope the memories of today's visit stay with the children for a long time.
A huge thank you to all of the wonderful staff for making us feel so welcome and for creating such a calm, supportive environment for the children to enjoy the experience.
And yes... Sidney definitely appreciated his bowl of carrots when he got home! 🥕🐴

Behind every PonyTales - Interactive™ session is a lot of planning, creativity, and sometimes a little bit of trial and error!
Today we spent the afternoon testing some of the themed craft activities that will accompany our award-winning book Tea with a Pony as part of our interactive literacy and wellbeing sessions.
A huge thank you to Eva-Lucia, Brooke and Willow, who helped us trial the activities. Not only are they fantastic craft testers, but they are also characters featured within the Sidney's Adventures book series, making today's session even more special.
From colourful pony decorations to cupcake crafts, these simple activities are designed to encourage creativity, conversation, fine motor skills, imagination and, most importantly, fun. They provide wonderful opportunities for children and families to create something special to take home and remember their experience.
One of the things we love most about PonyTales - Interactive™ is bringing stories to life through hands-on experiences. Reading the story is just the beginning — the real magic happens when children can explore, create, play and connect with the characters and themes in meaningful ways.
We're really pleased with how today's craft prototypes turned out and can't wait to share them at future Tea with a Pony sessions.
Which one is your favourite — the ponies or the cupcakes? 🐴🧁

"For some children, animals can provide a calm, reassuring presence during times of stress or overwhelm. Our special Sidney helps create a safe, nurturing space where children feel accepted, supported and able to reconnect, build confidence and experience positive emotional wellbeing at their own pace."

I’m incredibly honoured to share that Tea with a Pony – Sidney’s Adventures has been chosen as the winner of The Golden Wizard Book Prize ✨
This little book was created from a deeply personal place — growing up struggling with reading as an autistic, ADHD, dyslexic and dyspraxic child, and later seeing similar challenges in my own child. I wanted to create something gentle, engaging and accessible… a story that could truly come alive through connection, imagination and experience.
Through PonyTales – Interactive™, Tea with a Pony becomes more than just a book. Children can meet Sidney, explore stories through play, sensory experiences and real-life interaction, helping make reading feel enjoyable, meaningful and inclusive.
To have this recognised by The Golden Wizard Book Prize means so much, especially as an independent author from the North East trying to think differently about literacy and storytelling.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Sidney’s Adventures so far — every share, kind message, session booking and book purchase genuinely helps keep the magic going.
