Dame Allan's Schools

Dame Allan's Schools A leading Newcastle Independent School for ages 3 - 18, we have been providing excellence in education for more than 300 years.

Dame Allan’s Schools were established in 1705 and are currently based in Fowberry Crescent and Hunter’s Road, Newcastle upon Tyne. We are pioneering in our offering of ‘diamond structure’ education, meaning our nursery and junior schools are co-educational, splitting off into single s*x schools from years 7 – 11, and joining together again in the Sixth Form. We pride ourselves on the Schools’ fami

ly atmosphere and traditional values. We do not only focus on academic success - although this is important - we believe in educating the whole child in a safe and supportive environment. Dame Allan’s Schools: Building the Future

“Music is a huge passion of mine, and I have been able to embrace that at Dame Allan’s.”

Fiona joined Dame Allan’s in Year 7 from a state primary school, supported by a bursary award.

Since then, she has embraced opportunities across school life - from performing in concerts and services and singing as a leading chorister at Newcastle Cathedral, to learning the oboe through our Endangered Instruments programme.

Now studying Maths, Music and Psychology at A level, Fiona credits the opportunities and support she has received with helping her develop both academically and personally.

For Fiona, some experiences - including school trips abroad - simply wouldn’t have been possible without her bursary.

This Giving Day, we want to help open those same doors for another young person by raising funds for a bursary place for a care-experienced child.

Every gift can help create opportunities that last far beyond the classroom. 💗

“I feel lucky to have a bursary at Dame Allan's, it helped my path to aerospace engineering.”

When Raees joined Dame Allan’s in Year 7, he described himself as quiet and introverted. Since then, he has embraced opportunities ranging from VEX Robotics and public speaking to trying cricket for the first time, building his confidence along the way.

Now in Sixth Form, Raees is studying Maths, Further Maths and Computer Science, with aspirations to study at university and pursue a future in aerospace engineering.

Raees’ story is just one example of the difference access to a Dame Allan’s education can make.

This Giving Day, we’re raising funds to help provide a bursary place for a care-experienced child and open the door to opportunities that could help shape their future.

Giving Day is here! 💙

Today marks the start of Dame Allan’s Giving Day 2026!

Over the next two days, we’re bringing our community together to support our partnership with the Royal National Children’s Springboard Foundation and help fund a bursary place for a care-experienced child.

Every gift, no matter the size, will help us towards our goal and the opportunity to open the door to a Dame Allan’s education for another young person.

There are plenty of ways to get involved, including the chance to sponsor one of the new trees planned for our Senior School site, with all proceeds contributing to our Giving Day total. 🌳

Together, we can make a difference. 💛

Our Year 7 pupils set off from Dame Allan’s today for their residential trip to PGL Newby Wiske.

With a few action-packed days ahead, the trip is a brilliant opportunity for pupils to get to know one another, build new friendships and take on plenty of challenges together.

Our Junior School pupils had the chance to let their imaginations run free during Art Day! 🎨✨

Throughout the day, pupils explored a range of creative activities, experimenting with different materials and techniques to produce their own unique pieces of art.

There was plenty of hands-on creativity too, with pupils working with clay to create some fantastic pottery pieces and characters. 🖌

It was wonderful to see so many ideas taking shape and pupils enjoying the opportunity to express their creativity.

House spirit was in full swing this morning as College, Forest, Hunter and Manor gathered for their first House assemblies of the new academic year! 💗🏆

It was a chance for pupils to reconnect with their Houses and find out more about the challenges, events and activities to come over the months ahead.

With plenty of friendly competition on the horizon, the big question is already being asked… which House will come out on top this year? 👀

We’re delighted to officially welcome Mr Neil Seaton as Principal of Dame Allan’s. 💗

As pupils and staff return to school, Mr Seaton begins his first term with us and is looking forward to getting to know the pupils, families and colleagues who make Dame Allan’s such a special community.

It marks an important new chapter for the school, and we’re delighted to have Mr Seaton leading Dame Allan’s as we begin the year ahead.

Please join us in giving him a very warm welcome! ✨
