As part of our Humanities learning about Grace Darling, Year 1 enjoyed an exciting visit to the RNLI Lifeboat Station at Cullercoats.
We met some amazing RNLI volunteers who, just like Grace Darling, dedicate their time to helping keep people safe at sea.
We loved trying on and exploring the lifesaving equipment, learning about the different beach safety flags.
Afterwards, we had lots of fun playing on the beach, building in the sand and keeping our eyes peeled to spot Steven Seagull! ๐ฆ๐๏ธ
It was a fantastic day of learning, exploring and making memories while discovering how bravery, kindness and teamwork continue to save lives today.
A huge thank you to the wonderful RNLI volunteers and parent volunteers for making our visit so special! โค๏ธ๐

Today, Year 6 had a visit from Martin, who works for the RNLI, who talked to us all about how to keep safe around water. He talked to us about what happens to the body when we enter cold water and showed us some rescue footage. Martin told us which flags to look out for to tell us where it is safe to swim, how to protect ourselves on the beach and what to do if we get into trouble in the water.

Year 6 enjoyed a brilliant โMoving Up!โ workshop with NERAP today, which was a great opportunity to reflect upon ourselves as learners, our highlights from primary school and consider our next steps to secondary school and beyond. We talked about the different future pathways on offer to us, such as, the possibility of college, university or an apprenticeship and how this might lead us to our dream future career. We also discussed the skills and qualifications we might need to get there.

Year 4 had a wonderful day celebrating Green Day! ๐ณWe had visitors Fiona and Jane from North East Nature Park who helped us answer our question 'How can we help biodiversity in our local area?' We conducted some research to find out if our playground is permeable and how many pollinators we could see. We then added this data to their national habitat mapper. Thank you for a great workshop! ๐ฑ

Yesterday, as part of Year 2's Green Day, the children explored the question: "What is renewable energy?". They investigated different sources of renewable energy and learned why these are a more sustainable choice for our planet compared to non-renewable energy sources. The children enjoyed discussing how renewable energy can help create a cleaner, greener future. We were also delighted to welcome a visitor - Tom Walker from Statkraft, who shared how wind turbines generate clean energy. Inspired by what they had learned, the children designed and made their own wind turbines to take home! A fantastic day of creativity and environmental awareness. Well done, Year 2!
