πŸ›πŸžπŸ•·οΈ Minibeast Week! πŸπŸ¦‹πŸŒ

Our little explorers have been getting up close with the wonderful world of minibeasts! πŸŒΏπŸ”

Through messy, hands-on play, the children have been digging for worms and bugs, exploring different textures and using their senses to investigate what they discovered. They also used their imagination and creativity to design and build their very own minibeast houses, thinking about what a tiny creature might need to make a safe and cosy home. πŸ‘πŸ›

We’ve also been getting creative with minibeast printing and sharing stories and books about different creepy crawlies. These experiences have encouraged the children to develop new vocabulary, share their ideas and ask questions as they begin to understand more about the tiny creatures that live around us.

Minibeast week has been a wonderful opportunity to encourage curiosity, observation, problem-solving and a growing respect for the natural world β€” all through play! πŸ’š

We love seeing where the children’s curiosity takes them! 🐞🌱

🐞🏑 Welcome to our Bug Hotel! 🐝πŸͺ΅

Our little explorers have been hard at work creating a brand new bug hotel for our outdoor area! Together, the children gathered natural materials from around the garden before working alongside our staff to carefully build the structure.

This project was about so much more than building a home for insects. It encouraged teamwork, communication and problem-solving as the children shared ideas, worked together and discovered how different natural materials can provide safe spaces for a variety of mini beasts.

By creating habitats for wildlife, the children are developing a greater understanding of the natural world and learning the importance of caring for the environment. They can’t wait to see which tiny visitors choose to make our bug hotel their new home! πŸžπŸ›πŸ•·οΈπŸ

At Tots Are Us, we believe some of the best learning happens outdoors, where curiosity leads the way and children are inspired to explore, create and care for the world around them. πŸ’š

β˜€οΈπŸŒ§οΈ Weather & Seasons Week πŸŒˆβ„οΈπŸ‚πŸŒΈ

Last week, our little learners explored the fascinating world of weather and seasons through hands-on, child-led play. Whether they were painting melting ice, investigating shadows, or stepping into the role of weather reporters at our weather station, the children were constantly asking questions, making predictions and discovering how the world around them works.

Through these experiences, the children developed their understanding of cause and effect as they observed ice changing state and experimented with recreating rainfall from clouds. They explored early scientific concepts, using their senses to investigate temperature, light, dark and changing weather conditions.

Our seasonal activities encouraged children to recognise similarities and differences in the environment throughout the year, helping them make sense of the world around them while building their communication and language skills through meaningful discussions and new vocabulary.

Most importantly, the children were given the opportunity to explore, investigate and learn through play, developing curiosity, confidence and a love of discovery that will support their learning for years to come. πŸ’›

Last week we enjoyed a fantastic High Street Week at nursery! πŸ™οΈβœ¨

The children immersed themselves in imaginative role play as they explored different businesses found on a high street. Our nursery transformed into a bustling Costa Coffee shop, a busy garage, a Clarks shoe shop, and even a Domino’s pizza restaurant! β˜•πŸ‘ŸπŸš—πŸ•

Through these exciting experiences, the children developed their communication and language skills, mathematical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and understanding of the world around them. They loved taking on different roles, serving customers, repairing vehicles, fitting shoes, and creating delicious pizzas.

It was wonderful to see so much creativity, confidence, and teamwork as the children learned through play and discovered how different people and businesses help our community every day.

🚧 Construction Week again this week and we’ve had SO much messy play fun! πŸ‘·β€β™€οΈπŸ› οΈ

Our tuff trays have been full of exciting hands-on activities for the children to explore and enjoy. We used our diggers alongside natural materials collected by the children themselves from outdoors, encouraging creativity, imagination and teamwork 🌿🚜

The children also enjoyed face painting, mark making, baby role play and exploring our seasonal themed tuff tray πŸ‚β„οΈπŸŒΈβ˜€οΈ Every activity was messy play based, giving the children opportunities to explore textures, build confidence, develop fine motor skills and express themselves through play.

We love creating inviting spaces where children can learn, investigate and have fun through sensory experiences πŸ’›

Activities like these help develop fine motor skills, problem solving, communication and teamwork - all while having an amazing time!

We’ve loved seeing our little construction workers so engaged and proud of their creations πŸ’›
