Swirls, starbursts and seriously satisfying textures.
Last night we played with oil pastels, exploring mark making, harmonious colours and stippling - with a little inspiration from Starry Night along the way.
Next week we will be layering things up with foam printing plates inspired by nature, printing straight onto these oil pastels backgrounds. It’s going to get messy! In partnership with The Owl Tree Childrens Cafe can’t wait for next week!

Had a really good session at The Owl Tree Children’s Café, working with parents and grandparents to make clay pendants. Calm, chatty, hands-on — with some genuine talent in the room.
These are off to the kiln next. So lovely meeting this lot for the first time. We’ve got three more sessions together and I’m really looking forward to getting to know everyone better.
Big thanks to The Owl Tree Children’s Café for having me and for creating a space where parents and grandparents can meet new people, be creative, and unwind with a nice cup of tea. The Owl Tree Childrens Cafe

Under the Sea in Clay – A Fantastic Workshop with Year 2! 🌊
I had the absolute pleasure of working with a fantastic Year 2 class on an Under the Sea clay project. 🐠 Newcastle Bridges School
We explored the beautiful textures and patterns of sea life — from coral and shells to seaweed and ammonites — before creating our own pinch pots inspired by the ocean. The children learned how to pinch, roll, and join clay using slip, adding coral bubbles, tentacles, and swirling shells to make each piece completely unique.
The clay work is now drying and will be painted in school — I can’t wait to see how their underwater creations come to life with colour! 🎨
Such a creative, enthusiastic group — thank you to the school staff and pupils for a wonderful session! 💙

Two brilliant groups of primary students from Newcastle Bridges School explored the stunning grounds of Belsay Hall, Castle & Gardens with their iPads in hand — hunting for symmetry, texture, cropping, leading lines and creative viewpoints. 📸
Next week, we’ll turn their photos into vibrant collages inspired by Brazilian artist Beatrice Milhazes — full of colour and energy!
So proud of how engaged and imaginative the kids were. 🌈👏
