We're back! We're excited to say that language clubs - breakfast, lunchtime and after school - are back this week at West Jesmond Primary School and Gosforth First School with the exception of the new breakfast clubs for Reception & Year 1 pupils (Wednesdays at West Jesmond, Fridays at South Gosforth) which start next week (18th & 20th Sept). Introducing new Spanish teacher Alejandra! 🇩🇴 Alejandra is originally from Dominican Republic where she enjoyed teaching English as a second language. Having lived in Newcastle for the last 7 years she is very excited to teach her native language. She has a 3 year old son who takes up most of her time but when she can, she enjoys exercising and reading. Bienvenida Alejandra!

Ruth here - I hope you've all had a wonderful summer break. I can't believe we're at the start of a new school year already! Our team of French and Spanish tutors are raring to go and we can't wait to get the new term started. Just a reminder that language clubs recommence the second week back, so from Monday 9th September. Introducing our new Spanish teacher Claudia from Mexico 🇲🇽 Claudia is from Mexico City and has lived in Newcastle for 10 years. She has enjoyed teaching Spanish to children at Spanish school Aprende over the last year and loves sharing the language with her 11-year-old son who is bilingual. In her spare time she likes dancing and going to the cinema. Her favourite food is tacos of course! 🌮

Starting Monday 16th September we have a new class for KS2 students at Jesmond Library 🇪🇸 Suitable for Year 4 and Year 5 students, this will take place every Monday 5-5:45pm. For more information please contact Ruth - [email protected]

We can't believe it's nearly two months since our languages assembly at West Jesmond Primary School! We had an amazing 124 pupils take part, performing songs and short role plays in both French and Spanish. Seven of the children learn both languages! The children found it really motivating to work towards the performance and parents' feedback was very positive. Thanks so much for all your support!

We have three new classes - breakfast clubs at West Jesmond Primary School and South Gosforth First School and a new KS2 Spanish class at Jesmond Library. What a fiesta! Emma’s KS2 Spanish students had a ball in the last lesson of the term learning about the fiestas in Spain 🇪🇸 They even tried Spanish food like homemade tortilla de patatas, olives, tomatoes and chorizo. Qué rico! 😋

Emma’s Year 2 class at West Jesmond loved learning all about the fiestas in Spain and made their own ”abanicos” 💃

We are so proud of all the students today who gave it their all in the languages assembly at West Jesmond Primary. We had songs, presentations and role plays in both French and Spanish. Thanks to the school and all parents for their support 🇪🇸🇫🇷
