Leverhulme Trust funded project, Writing Doctors: Representation and Medical Personality 1660-1832

URGENT UPDATE
It is with great disappointment that, in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are obliged to cancel our ‘Writing Health’ Conference, scheduled for 3-5 June 2020. If the predicted infection patterns are correct then early June will be immediately after the expected peak in this country. Though we are saddened by having to make this decision, our priority is the health and safety of colleagues and peers across the globe.

We thought it best to take the decision now before most people will have booked travel and accommodation. We very much regret this necessity: it promised to be an excellent occasion with truly international attendance and a wealth of fascinating papers. We are currently in the process of refunding costs paid to us by speakers and delegates and will do this as expediently as possible.

We thank all those who submitted proposals, and those thinking of attending. Our project still commits to developing and cultivating excellent scholarship in our field. We shall be in touch with delegates regarding taking our proposed publications forward, as we still intend to curate publications, partly based on contributions taken from the projected conference, in prestigious journals or edited volumes. Whether you contributed an abstract or not, we welcome contact from our peers so please let us know if you would be interested in contributing to such publications at [email protected]

Any questions are more than welcome. With our best wishes,
The Writing Doctors team (Clark, Allan, Leigh, Helen, Ashleigh, Laurence)
