Isaac & Georgia were re-elected to stand as SABBs for a second year running, and we met our new team for 2026 - 2027!

⚽️ THINGS GOT SPORTY ⚽️

With the BUCS finals, Intramural Leagues AND Varsity! We tried our best, but NCL were victorious once again. Nevertheless, UP THE POLY 💪

💜 INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY 💜

We had the honour of celebrating International Women’s Day over at the Civic Centre with Newcastle City Council, as well as hosting our first ever International Women’s Day market at NSU!

🌍 INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS WEEK 🌍

After last years success, we brought back International Students Week for a second year running! We celebrated a wealth of culture with our students, by hosting a sports day, food festival and international dance party!

⛰️ OLLY CHALLENGED HIMSELF ⛰️

Olly did the, Daily Mile Challenge, Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, and joined this years Volunteer Zambia team!

Our lovely students from London campus came for a visit to the fabulous North East for awards season, so we had to show them around!

🌟 APRIL SOCIETY OF THE MONTH 🌟

Congratulations to , our winners of April Society of the Month!

Throughout April, Ice Skating really showcased the incredible sense of community, dedication, and inclusivity that has defined their society throughout the year.

With a membership of over 500 students and consistently strong attendance at the rink, the society has built a welcoming environment where students can socialise, stay active, and form lasting friendships 🫂

As the academic year begins to wind down, the society rounded off their socials with a hugely successful Fundraiser Quiz held at Wonderbar 🌟

Despite worries about turnout after the Easter break, the event exceeded expectations, welcoming around 100 attendees and raising an impressive £500–600 through ticket sales, raffles, and bingo games!

The success of the event was a testament to the hard work and organisation of the committee, particularly Fundraisers Owen Morrow and Poppy Magill, who spent much of the Easter break preparing quiz rounds, mini-games, and arranging prizes 🏆

Committee members also worked together on the night to support raffle and bingo sales, creating a fun and energetic atmosphere for everyone involved!

As we approach the end of another incredible academic year, it’s been amazing to see the passion, creativity, and dedication shown by societies across campus.

Thank you to every committee member, volunteer, and participant who has helped create such supportive and vibrant student communities throughout the year.

We can’t wait to see what next year brings ✨

Women and girls often experience travel and public space differently to men, and these experiences can vary widely depending on where people live, the journeys they make, the time of day, and personal circumstances. Local and community knowledge is essential to understanding what is really happening across the region.

Hearing directly from women and girls who live, work and travel in the North East will help ensure that future decisions are shaped by real experiences, not assumptions.
