Starting the 1st for yr10-11 / yr 9 higher. Wednesday 5th at 5pm-6:30pm yr11 and yr 9 6:30-8pm. Lovely little classroom for six to eight students. Intense program for GCsE prep and end of year assessments.

Due to successful resits in November, I have six places available on my Sunday Morning club. Foundation/ higher.

An online group session ( 1Hr :30mins ) using Zoom or Teams. GCsE Grade 3/4 topics and standards. Weekly homework with 24 repetitive topics for reinforcement. Embedding 12 full topics over 6 months. Starting in September up to February half term.

Did you know that revising using mock papers helps to embed learning?
Listening to someone talk through a paper, understanding the wording, terminology can help with imprinting on memory for your exams, I hear these type of quotes on a regular basis and have never quite fully been supportive of them. We all know that revising is hard, worse when you don’t fully understand the topics or formulas, it may as well be written in French, at Mathematics4 all I try to bypass this thinking and reinforce the passing technique!
“What is that?” You may ask, I believe that people can pass without having to be taught every topic. Not all students taking a maths exam want to become a maths teacher! Yet all students are required to pass, I know people tell me it is morally wrong to teach people techniques to pass the papers, short cuts to remembering formulas etc but! If it gets students over the pass line then why is it wrong? Students will rely on their phones to answer all maths related issues and require help to get passed this government set paper to get a decent job. That’s what counts.
I may teach in a different way, offer techniques, songs, jokes and stories to help people remember when they’re sat in their exams, if it gets them a pass then it is worth it.

A Gym teacher approached me and asked if I could help him achieve his Maths Equivalency level 2 exam. He passed today, first time at 73%. His first mock 7weeks ago and achieved 28%.
This was his message to me today. Sands. I am s**t with words, but I can not thank you enough, not only have you change my live in what I can know achieve in my career, but how you have influenced my life in 7 weeks. You didn't know me from Adam, (not a maths reference there, ha) but you worked me out in 1 lesson, you know how I learn and what I find easy and hard. I now feel confident to say I can teach and that am good at what I do. I couldnt say that 7 weeks ago. From the bottom of my heart thank you sands. Best bit I have written this completely sober!! Ha.
This is why we Tutor, teach and work long hours.
