Year 5 had a fantastic time yesterday! 🌋
Over the past few weeks, we have been busy building our volcanoes and learning all about how they work. In Science, we explored how pressure builds up inside a volcano, causing magma to rise and lava to flow down the sides.
Yesterday was experiment day, and wow every single volcano erupted! It was brilliant to see all of our learning come to life and watch the eruptions unfold. The children were amazed by the results and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Well done, Year 5! 👏

For our art project Year 4 have been learning about sculpture. We ended our project by making 3D facial sculptures. There was no mess in the classroom Mrs Henderson.... Promise! 😄

Y4 and the Harbour took a short walk to find the upper course of the river Ouseburn yesterday as part of our rivers project. As we arrived we saw a heron fly off which was very exciting. We walked along and found a meander (a bend) in the river and an island.

Today we have a special Caribbean themed lunch instead of the usual Thursday Week 2 Menu. Please see the menu below. There is a jacket potato option as well 🍍

This week is Drowning Prevention week, a nationwide campaign designed to educate children in water safety and lifesaving skills. In Early Years, we spent an afternoon focused on how to be safe in water. The children know swimming pool safety well, so we focused on the beach and other water areas. We found dangers on a beach scene, sorted safe and unsafe scenarios and played lifeguards with small world toys.
