Maple Lodge Nursery

Our Butterfly playroom have been enjoying exploring paints and tools. They have had lots of fun! 🦋

This week the children at Maple had a visit from Animals about town.

Keeping with our topic of on the farm, the children were very excited to interact with the sheep, goats, chickens, guinea pigs and rabbits. The children were introduced to a working dog, and learnt how they should approach a dog safely.

The benefits of interacting with animals:

🐓 Interacting with animals encourages talking, new vocabulary and listening skills.

🐄 Animals help children develop empathy, compassion and confidence whilst providing a calm environment.

🐑 Children learn about nature, lifecycles and food origin (age appropriate)

🐐 Playing with animals teaches children to risk assess and act safely.

Keeping on topic of little explorers, the children of have had lots of fun hunting for mini beasts.

The Bumble bee children have been exploring mini-beasts in soil and learning to use a magnifying glass.

The Grasshoppers have been focused on ladybirds creating their own in crafts and hunting for the tiny bugs in their tuff tray.

The older children have been looking at “Spinderella” they have made their own webs using string, explored colour and created their own magic wands.

Our Ladybird children have enjoyed taking part in their own Winter Olympics. Lots of fun was had by all. ❄️🎿
