We have had such a busy couple of weeks here in preschool. The children have made their own easter bunny cards, using mini potatoes cut into easter egg shapes. We enjoyed making cotton wool sheep, cornflake cakes with a yummy treat on top, and ended the week doing an easter egg hunt! We hope all of our children and their families enjoy the Easter break. See you all on the 20th of April, when preschool reopens.

โค๏ธ This week in preschool we have been making our loved ones a valentines card. We shaped our toilet roll tubes into hearts, and made heart flowers using different coloured paints. We also spoke about who is special to us and why we love our families. We dipped strawberries into white chocolate and added heart sprinkles to give to our loved ones. We have also tried some yummy Chinese food and made Chinese lanterns, to celebrate the year of the ๐ horse. We ended the week by tasting some yummy pancakes with syrup, strawberries and sprinkles as an end of half term treat๐ฅ

This week in preschool we have been doing lots of sensory activities. We have been printing different shapes using sponges and foam rollers. We created our own rainbow rice and used it to create mermaid/merboy pictures. We have had lots of sand and snow play too! We also enjoyed cutting up our own fruit and talking about each fruits colours.

๐คถ What a busy few weeks we have had here in preschool. The children have participated in lots of Christmas activities. We started with making our own salt dough tree decorations, and added glitter, paint and sequences. Then we cut out our favourite toys in the catalogues before sticking them onto our stockings ๐ The children and staff all had great fun at our Christmas party, enjoying playing lots of games, and eating lots of yummy food! We would like to wish all of our families a lovely Christmas and a happy new year! We can't wait to see you all back in January.โ๏ธ

We have been for our Christmas outing this week!! ๐
๐ This week we have been on a bus with the children to see Fenwicks window, and the Christmas decorations around the city centre ๐. The children loved the bus ride, we sang songs and played eye spy. We walked around the small Christmas markets, and saw a ๐ก ferris wheel and carousal. We then took our pictures in a Christmas selfie booth, pulling funny faces. The children then spotted Santa's chair, and we all got our pictures taken. We took a little break enjoying a drink of water, cucumber sticks, oranges,raisins and bread sticks.We then made our own baubles, using paint and acrylic pens. We then walked down to Fenwick window and spent a little while looking at each window. Then we did a last stop at the city library, where we read a Christmas story with the children.

Winter has finally arrived in preschool โ๏ธ We have enjoyed playing outside in the snow, making sure we have wrapped up all warm. We made a snowmanโ๏ธ had a snowball fight, and made our own snow angels. We have also started our Christmas decorations by putting our Christmas tree up. ๐ We are looking forward to revealing our new Christmas role play area with you all. ๐

For Remembrance Day we read a story about helping others and safety. The children then shared their knowledge and some talked about how poppies grew on fields for soldiers who looked after us. We made special mementos to thank them.
At the end of the week we took part in Children in Need. We discussed the importance of being kind to others and how our differences are what makes us unique and special. We made our own pudsey teddy hats, had a colouring competition and made some yoghurt crispy cakes topped with pudsey spots!

Remember Remember the 5th of November! ๐ฅ We have been enjoying watching the fireworks from our windows this week ๐ We have made our own bonfire pictures using paint and cotton buds, and also fireworks using empty toilet tube rolls. Children strengthen their fine motor skills by doing some messy play.They recreated the fireworks they had seen in the shaving foam. We ended the week by making our own breadstick sparklers, they were yummy! ๐

๐ At our English Martyrs Church hall preschool, we have had so much Halloween fun. We have carved our own pumpkins, scooping out "pumpkin guts". We have read "Room on the Broom" and then mixed our own potions and spells ๐งโโ๏ธ using spaghetti worms. We made Funny Bones skeletons and mummies, and ended the week with monster apples and a halloween party. ๐ป

๐ฎ ๐At our English martyrs Church preschool we celebrated Diwali with the children.
Diwali is the festival of light so the children have made and decorated their own ๐ฏ divas.
We explored the Sikh and Hindu culture by listening to different bollywood music and trying out our own dance moves.
We also tried some delicious Indian food such as chicken tikka masala sauce, naan bread and poppadoms. ๐ ๐

๐This week in preschool at English Martyrs Church Hall we have been exploring Autumn with the children.
We have been looking at how the leaves in our garden have been changing colours and collecting our own leaves to make hedgehogs. ๐ฆ
We have been developing our fine motor skills by using pom poms and pegs, and making our own paintbrushes to decorate autumn trees.
We have also been shading over different leaves with crayons and watching how the pretty patterns appear on our pictures! ๐
