Every child deserves an education that works for them🧡

Many children come to us feeling overwhelmed and lacking in confidence. For some that’s academic confidence and for others it’s social + emotional, often it’s both.
Children with SEND likely spend time in environments that don’t fully meet their needs. Over time that affects how they see themselves and what they believe they’re capable of.
But when they’re surrounded by people who understand them and are supported to learn in a way that works for them, their confidence quickly starts to improve. It’s one of the first changes we see in our students and that leads to them trying new things, taking more risks and being more engaged in learning.
When a child truly believes in themselves, they can achieve incredible things😊

We’re delighted to welcome Kerry to team Toucan!
Kerry brings many years of business administration and early years experience and will be the first person to greet you at our Blaydon hub. She is a proud Geordie with a love of travel, music and making the most of life outside of work. If she’s not planning her next trip, you’ll likely find her at a disco or house music event somewhere in the world. Music is a big part of her life, she loves how it can lift her mood at the end of a busy day. She’s also a keen swimmer and recently braved her first outdoor dip in the North Sea! She enjoys supporting causes that are close to her heart, volunteering when she can and taking part in fundraising challenges for the North East Autism Society and Alzheimer’s UK.
Kerry will be supporting the team, helping manage admissions and guiding families towards the services and support that best suit their needs. We’re very pleased to have her with us🧡
The news is out! We’re very excited to announce that we’ve opened our THIRD provision at in beautiful Whalton village in Northumberland.
If your child needs extra support, please get in touch or visit toucaneducation.com for more info on our flexi schools.
1️⃣Check the foundations
Make sure they know their letters, sounds and basic reading skills. Small gaps early on can become bigger problems later
2️⃣Look for underlying barriers
Hearing, vision, speech and language difficulties or developmental readiness can all impact progress. Trust your instincts if something doesn’t feel right
3️⃣Ask for support early
Speak to school, request a screening if concerns continue and put targeted strategies in place before your child loses confidence
Remember that children develop at different rates but ongoing struggles are usually a sign that they need support and research shows that outcomes are better with early intervention.
If you need support or advice for your child, send us a DM or visit toucaneducation.com
