Week 4
What a fantastic Space Week the children enjoyed this week.
Our little astronauts have had so much fun exploring space through play and learning!
The children worked together to build a giant rocket developing communication and problem solving skills. They then made and decorated their own rockets with the older children using these to practise writing their names. All the children have enjoyed designing their very own colourful aliens.
We explored planets, the Sun, the Moon and learned which planet we live on as well as facts about the others. The children enjoyed space-themed treasure and story baskets, and joined in with number songs such as 5 Little Men in a Flying Saucer and Zoom, Zoom, Zoom to practise counting.
Outside, the children enjoyed a planet hunt and space obstacle course, developing their physical skills and teamwork along the way!
We’re looking forward to Castle and Fairytale theme next week!

Week 3 - Pirate Week
Our nursery children have had an amazing time setting sail on a week full of adventure, exploration and learning!
They have been counting and subitising treasure, developing their understanding of number. They have explored positional language and developed listening skills as they followed pirate maps.
They designed and built their own pirate ships using recycled materials, created obstacle courses to navigate shark-infested waters, and made pirate hats and treasure maps to develop their fine motor skills.
There have been treasure hunts around school too, helping the children explore new spaces and build confidence ahead of their September transitions.
Our pirates enjoyed making treasure chests from dough and taking part in floating and sinking activities cementing and revisiting skills and knowledge built during our previous science week.
They’ve had a week filled with learning, creativity, team work, adventure and fun!

Week 2- Little Scientists 🥼🔎
This week, the children became little scientists as we celebrated our, STEM week!
They explored, investigated, made predictions and solved problems through a range of exciting activities.
The children used playdough and sticks to build strong bridges, exploring different ways to make their creations stable. They also developed their gross motor skills by shaking bags of ingredients to make their own delicious ice cream.
Using recycled materials, the children designed and created their own boats before testing them in the water to discover whether they would float or sink. We explored colour mixing and ice.
They loved making predictions and finding out what happened during their investigations.
Well done, everyone!

Week 1- Under the Sea
We have been making waves with our parachute, working together to create big ocean waves, and we designed our own obstacle course where we jumped over the waves and crawled through tunnels like little sea creatures!
We have enjoyed reading “The Rainbow Fish”, where we talked about the importance of kindness, sharing and caring for others. The children then designed and created their very own colourful collage rainbow fish using different materials and textures.
Our under-the-sea theme has also supported our maths development, as we used shells for counting, sorting and exploring patterns. The children enjoyed sensory play with our green “seaweed” activity, encouraging creativity, imagination and exploration.
For our children moving up to Reception, we have continued to develop early writing skills through name writing and have been talking about what Reception will be like. These conversations and activities help the children feel physically, socially and emotionally prepared for September.
We can't wait for next week were we have our, 'Little Scientist STEM week.'
There are sessions available to book throughout the holidays, please get in touch with Miss Sivell or Miss Pearson. Have a lovely weekend!

We couldn’t let the Year 6’s go that easily….!
While digging through the photo archives for the end-of-year presentation, Mr Wyllie and Mr Lavery came across a music lesson from years ago! We think it was from when they were in Year 4!
Wishing all of Year 6 the very best for Year 7 and beyond!
