Half marathon race four weeks before marathon. Tune-up races can be used to practice and prepare for race day.

Provides a great bench mark for current fitness level. Hitting a 7min / mile for the half distance is pretty much bang on where I need to be four weeks before Berlin and gave me the confidence I need to smash out my final training weeks.

Use tune-ups to test running gear, fuelling, warm ups and mental strategies for race day.

Shout out to this month who has well and truly smashed her running personal bests. Running a record time in both the Great North 10k AND the Newcastle half marathon.

Not only is she eating up the miles, she also has managed to deadlift her own bodyweight this week with a whopping 60kg going UP ⬆️ !!

Amazing efforts 👌

Mark & Lois have been working with me for just eight weeks. They wanted to train so they could continue running injury free, feel strong and look great on their holiday !

Using compound lifts and upper body accessory movements I programmed them two workouts a week. Four weeks high volume training followed by four weeks strength training moving through lower reps with heavy weights.

Both have smashed their training; pushing treble figures on their deadlift 1RM, building some insane leg strength and locking in some really healthy habits.

The results after only eight weeks have been awesome. Fabulous effort guys 👌

Shout out to client for his awesome effort last Sunday, smashing out the Kingdom of Northumbria Coastal Ultra.

After completing Manchester Marathon last year, Aaron had been suffering with a tib. post. tendinopathy, making it very uncomfortable and sometimes painful to run. After several hard months of rehab, strength training and a gradual, steady increase in his weekly miles, he was able to run a whopping 33 miles in last Sunday's Race.

Massive congrats to you Aaron 👏 🙌

Now he is running pain-free and with some good milage behind him, he is now training to smash his Manchester PB in Edinburgh marathon in and break 55mins on the Pier-to-Pier Race coming up this year.

Let's GO !! 👊

Promoting faster recovery and adaption and maximising training time.

Preparation for double threshold sessions and a bigger volume of tempo paced training.

Keep a look out for future threshold running workouts 👀

Straight back into week 5 of training after a lower intensity week.

Monday is double workout day. 5am run and strength training in the afternoon. Double the workouts provides the body with double the stimulus. By training twice a day I am able squeeze in all my weekly miles and promote training adaptations twice as often !

End of of plan.
Very excited to already see some big gains and improvements in running speed, including being able to comfortably run my goal 5k race pace after a heavy milage week.

Achieved fastest mile and 2nd fastest 5k without pushing too hard.

Volume and intensity of training will drop next week during a deload week. Focus will be on nutrition, sleep and recovery. Excited to see the mental gains and running strength on slightly fresher legs going into week 5 of plan.

Coming to the end of the first three weeks of plan. Today's run took me out and back along the Quayside. Would have been rude not to have swung by the bridge to pick up a cheeky Polaroid and bag myself a Full Circle Brew Co six pack.

🍻🍻🍻
