π SPIRAL ROUNDABOUTS β PART 3
Spiral roundabouts can look complicatedβ¦ but once you know how to read the road, the signs and the markings, they start to make much more sense. ππ‘
In this video, I explain:
πͺ§ How to read the road signs before entering the roundabout
π£οΈ How to understand the road markings and lane arrows
βοΈ How to work out which lane you need
π Why choosing the correct position early is so important
π§ How to recognise North, South, East and West on directional signs
π How to understand where each exit is taking you
π How to plan ahead instead of making a last-second lane change
π And how to approach spiral roundabouts with more confidence and control
The goal isnβt to memorise every roundabout.
The goal is to learn HOW TO READ IT. π§
Once you understand what the signs, road markings and directions are telling you, you can apply the same thinking to roundabouts youβve never driven before.
Donβt just memorise the route β learn to read the road. π£οΈβ¨

π SPIRAL ROUNDABOUTS β PART 2
Before you even think about choosing a lane, you need to know how to READ the sign. ππ
When approaching a spiral roundabout, I teach my pupils to take 2 important pieces of information from the sign:
1οΈβ£ What is the road number for your destination?
2οΈβ£ Where is your exit positioned on the roundabout β at/before 12 oβclock or after 12 oβclock?
Why? Because once you know what youβre looking for, those road markings suddenly start making a LOT more sense. π‘
In this video I break down exactly how I teach my pupils to read the sign before we even get to the lanes.
Spiral roundabouts donβt need to feel complicated β you just need to know what information to look for and when. π§ β¨
π SAVE this video so you can come back to it before your next lesson.
π¬ And comment βPART 3β if you want me to show you how we use this information to actually choose the correct lane. π
ππ QUICK ROUNDABOUT TEST!
Youβre approaching this roundabout and you want to take the exit for CRAMLINGTON A1068β¦
π Which lane are YOU choosing?
β¬
οΈ Left lane?
β‘οΈ Right lane?
Look carefully at the road sign AND the road markings before you answer! π§
Drop your answer in the comments π β and tell me WHY you chose that lane.
Donβt worry about getting it wrong! These are exactly the kind of situations that can confuse learners (and even experienced drivers π).

π One lesson. One focus. One step closer.
Itβs easy to go into a driving lesson thinking about everything you need to improve β mirrors, manoeuvres, roundabouts, clutch control, observationsβ¦ π΅βπ«
Instead, choose ONE thing youβd really like to improve and tell your instructor at the beginning of your lesson.
Having a clear focus can help you feel less overwhelmed and make your progress easier to recognise. π§ β¨
Small improvements add up to confident driving. π
π Learners β whatβs the ONE thing youβre working on at the moment?
Save this for before your next lesson. π
