However, in stark contrast to this ability, adults will almost certainly be unable to recollect a single episode from their infancy, because during this period infants are considered to experience a form of memory loss known as infantile amnesia. One goal of the Newcastle University Cognitive Development Lab is to attempt to understand why this is, as well as asking a range of questions designed to better understand how our children learn to remember. Additional projects focus on learning more about how children navigate their social world, including how they learn new skills from watching others.
