โจ What an unforgettable week for our NSFC Turing 2026 group!
From the moment our students and staff stepped into Gratton Private Secondary School, they were welcomed with open arms - from joining lessons to an incredible choir performance that set the tone for a truly special experience. Watching our students connect through music and culture was a powerful reminder of how education brings people together across the world. ๐ซ
They then travelled into a rural community to an all-inclusive primary school, where our students rose to every challenge. From teaching across all year groups to leading a class of 101 nursery pupils - many with limited English - they showed outstanding adaptability, energy, and professionalism.
Throughout the week, our students have built meaningful connections, embraced new cultures (even picking up some Zulu along the way!), and truly stepped outside their comfort zones. We are incredibly proud of how positively they have represented Newcastle Sixth Form College. ๐
This journey is about more than teaching - itโs about growth, confidence, and making a real impact. And the best part? Thereโs still more to comeโฆ

๐๐ฆ Safari moments our students will never forgetโฆ
Our 2026 Turing group took an incredible trip to the Hluhluwe Game Reserve today - and what a day it was!
They were lucky enough to spot 4 of the Big Five ๐ (with the leopard keeping us on our toesโฆ for now).
From an amazing variety of wildlife to breathtaking landscapes, it was a real privilege for them to see these animals thriving in their natural habitat ๐ฟ
One of the biggest highlights? Just when they thought they might miss out on seeing elephantsโฆ They suddenly found themselves being escorted down the hill by a whole herd!
A long day, but an unforgettable experience our students will be talking about for years to come ๐

We were delighted to welcome Roman, an English and History teacher from Switzerland, to Newcastle Sixth Form College as part of a job shadowing programme.
During his visit, Roman joined English Literature, English Language and History lessons, delivered fantastic workshops on Frankenstein (set in Switzerland!), supported students with coursework and took part in faculty meetings and Oxbridge talks. An inspiring week of shared practice, ideas and global perspective - and an absolute pleasure to have as part of the team.
Weโre proud to support professional development and international partnerships that enrich learning for both staff and students ๐

We're incredibly proud of our students' achievements ๐
Over the past two years, 241 students at Newcastle Sixth Form College have taken part in our BSL-certified enrichment programme, delivered in partnership with British Sign. This week, our latest group of students have been collecting their certificates as our Tuesday afternoon enrichment programme comes to a close for 2026.
Learning British Sign Language helps students develop confidence, teamwork and resilience - and it's just one of the many enrichment opportunities available alongside sports clubs, pre-university courses, IMB Skills Build, Music & Film Production and our Performance Lab.
A huge well done to our Access and Year 12 students for their hard work, commitment and for continuing to go beyond the grades ๐
