We are looking for support workers to provide high quality, consistent care to our clients. This work will be varied as we establish our care service.
Unisus is a rapidly expanding care service and gained a rating of GOOD in October 2019 with CQC. This complements the existing services that we offer for people with disabilities and health conditions in the North East.
Hours: We are offering a comfortable, work life balance working with a 4 shifts on and 3 shifts off working pattern. 7am - 11pm, You you are wanting to work in this kind of pattern, we can offer you one weekend in and one weekend off.
Pay: Up to Β£12.15 an hour for carers who have higher-level training and experience. We also pay travel time, waiting time and mileage paid at 25p per mile between clients. An extra 50p per hour is offered Saturday and Sunday. WOW!!
Training: All staff are required to attend a PAID four day induction providing you with all the skills needed to conduct this role, in addition to online training modules reinforcing your knowledge. Training and development is always ongoing and we strive for our care team to be the best they can be with access to potential to fully funded NVQ 2 & 3. We also offer a 'cooking for care' class which is held at our main office to give you all the tools to prepare and cook meals for our service users.
Tuesday - 09:30 until 12:30 (Induction / Welcome to Unisus)
Wednesday - 09:30 until 14:30 (Medication Training Theory)
Thursday - 09:30 until 14:30 (Basic Life Support Theory & Practical)
Friday - 09:30 until 14:30 (Moving and Assisting of people Theory & Practical)
Location: Community based with work available in Newcastle and North Tyneside
Responsible to: Care Services Manager
Job Purpose: To enable clients with disabilities and health conditions, to lead healthier, safer and more fulfilling lives.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
To follow the clientsβ care and support plans
Listening and responding appropriately to client needs and any changes
Reporting any safeguarding concerns
To assist clients in maintaining their personal care and hygiene
Helping clients to prepare food, eat and drink
Accompanying clients to appointments and activities
Supporting clients to access public transport
Sleep-ins at clientsβ homes
Assisting clients with medication in accordance with care plans
Liaising and cooperating with colleagues and attending team meetings
Helping to maintain health and safety
Respecting client confidentiality
Acting at all times in accordance with Unisus' policies and procedures
Supporting clients in work through our supported employment programme
We believe that if we recruit people with the right values, we will achieve our aims. We can teach people new skills but we canβt teach people to care.
Carers must be flexible and able to work to suit the needs of the service.
