Newcastle School of Drums

Hello all! We've been pretty quiet on hear for a long time (busy teaching etc etc), but just a note to any of our recent enquiries (we are in the process of getting back to you) that we are currently completely full for students at the moment and with a waiting list for every day, we do have some potential availability during the working day when teachers can start earlier for those off during week days, but apart from that unfortunately we can't take on any new students and most teachers have been like this for a while.

If anyone is still interested in tuition, you are more than welcome to contact us (the best way is to fill in the contact form on our website) and we can either add you to a waiting list should availability come up in the future (often students start in the new year and it may not be for them) in which case we can see about getting you started with lessons, alternatively we can recommend some other great local teachers who may be able to help.

We haven't really posted much on here because we haven't needed too in terms of advertising, we are very lucky to be supported by a great number of students and parents who's recommendations keep us full, but we aim instead to start posting more often to celebrate our current students and to show their practice and hard work paying off. So stay tuned!

Thanks so much to everyone who came out to support us at our showcase at Tapyard last week, we really appreciate it! The 8 students who played absolutely smashed it and lot’s of students left feeling inspired, it’s always a real pleasure to teach the week after these and the difference in always clear, lots of practice done this week it seems!

By attending you have supported not only us but a great new local live music venue and staff, a photographer as well as a sound-engineer. For those who couldn’t make it, we will hopefully see you at the next one!

Thank you also to all those who bought merch, we will order these in the next few days, please bare in mind these are made to order so will take a few days to arrive (usually between 10-14 days), if anyone who didn’t purchase on the night would like to, please get in touch before the end of the week and we can happily sort these for you. These ‘Practice Makes Progress’ designs were done by local artist The Nerd That Draws they are available in both T Shirts (£15) and Hoodies (£28).

Hello all, just some details for our showcase tomorrow at Tapyard and what to expect!

Doors open at 6pm for a brisk 6.30pm start, please arrive between those time and any late arrivals please be mindful of those performing if the event has started, there are gaps in between tracks so this would be a good time to enter, the doors are at the back of the venue so please keep disturbances to a minimum.

Parking is FREE and there is tonnes of it in Hoults Yard directly outside the venue, the address is;

When arriving you must validate your parking inside the venue to get free parking.

There are 8 students playing 2 x tracks each with an interval in the middle, we aim to be all done by around 8pm (ish).

This is a large venue so lot's of space to move around, but we ask that you stay seated during performances. Seating is unreserved and we have gone for tables and long benches.

The bar is open to please support a great local venue, Tapyard is cashless!

We have merch for sale, most of this will need to be ordered as we will cater for a huge range of sizes for both adults and kids, these can be paid for in cash or we can add this on to your next invoice instead! These are designed by local artist Nerd That Draws and are unique to us, we only get chance to order these a few times a year so take advantage of that whilst you can! It's also a great way of supporting us and making these events happen again.

Student of ours Arlo's band Pig Latin play The Cluny this evening, tickets still available for anyone interested in supporting one of our students! Some will remember Arlo from playing at our last showcase, also at The Cluny!
