π€ Do you know how your child is using TikTok? π€
TikTok is a popular app for short-form video that users can interact with, along with direct messaging being another feature. π±
It allows people to share videos with one another and create their own. While fun, it's important to consider the risks and privacy of this app.

In order to keep children safe from emerging AI dangers, we are looking to increase digital protection, including the websites and social media. π±
βΉοΈ To do this, from now on all photos in news stories will not all be posted on social media. We will post one photo on Facebook and Instagram and then include the link to the story on the website below, where all of the photos will be located. This is to limit the number of pupils visible on social media. βΉοΈ
We are also looking at ways to enhance photo protection on the website to reduce AI dangers to those photos. πΈ
We look to increase safety, while making sure you can still see the wonderful work that happens in our school.

Last week, it wasnβt just a big day for England football team setting off their campaign in the World Cup, it was also a big day for Ferndene pupils. β½
They were invited to The Arc to participate in football quizzes, guessing the minute of the first goal, joining a sweepstake and creating origami football tops, which they had a lot of fun creating. Many of the young people were excited about joining in the penalty shootout against staff. π
The pupils said they enjoyed the event, and it was lovely to see people from other wards and get involved with the fun before the match. The medical team and occupational therapists also were seen having a go at the penalty challenge. π

A very talented pupil at Ferndene opted to write a βWinter Wonderlandβ poem in their English lessons based around what they love in the colder months. πβοΈ
Using the inspiration of the deer that run through Ferndene grounds, their cosy winter clothes and the feelings of the season, they confidently submitted their work to a Young Writers competition. Last week, they received both their certificate and copy of their published work in a book. βοΈπ₯Άπ
