📺🎬Do you feel like watching a movie that will make you laugh out loud and show you the most beautiful spots in Rome?🏛⛲
🎬Then "To Rome with Love" is your film!
🎧🎶What's even better, you can practise your Italian at the same time! 🎵
🇮🇹+🇬🇧If you feel like watchig the enitre film in Italian might be a bit too much, this one is a great choice as it's got sections in English as well as Italian.
🤸♀️🤹♀️And it's full of absurd, entertaining situations and mishaps - it's Woody Alen's after all!
🇮🇹Divertiti! = 🇬🇧Have fun!/ Enjoy!

☀️This time of the week when you go for your cappuccino e cornetto ☕🥐 breakfast, and you get "venerdi!" written on your coffee to remind you that whooppee! the weekend's about to start. 🙆♀️
If you want to wish someone a nice weekend in Italian, you can say:
🇮🇹 Buon weekend
OR
🇮🇹 Buon fine settimana
But because many people work on Saturday (and middle and secobdary schools are open too!), very often people just wish each other:
🇮🇹 Buona domenica = 🇬🇧 Have a nice Sunday
The 1-day-long (short!) weekends were certainly not my favoutite part of living in Italy... 😂

👩🎓It's so true about learning languages!
🙅♀️Students often wait for the time when "they are ready" - to watch films 📺or read books 📖in a foreign language🇪🇸🇮🇹🇧🇪, or even to speak🗣 (c'mon, I'm only beginning to learn!😱).
🔮The truth is, we're usually capable of much more than we realise and the best thing to do is give it a try!
🔔Don't wait to be ready! You're ready now and ypu can get even better. 🤞

One more reason to learn languages...
Ariana Grande mocked for Japanese tattoo typo: ‘Leave me and my grill alone’
Singer was hoping for a translation of her hit 7 Rings but ended up with ‘small charcoal grill’

🍕🍝🍦Food, glorious (Italian!) food 🥐☕
🍽Here's how we say the names of meals in Italian:
🍳🥞 la colazione/ prima colazione - breakfast
🍝il pranzo - luch/dinner
🍎🍪 la merenda - an afternoon snack (very important in Italy! And usually very nice too 🍩🍪)
🍸🍡 l'apperitivo - an afternoon/early evening drink accompanied by various savory snacks (peanuts, crips, olives, pieces of cheese and sliced meats - differs between the regions and bars)
🥗 la cena - supper
🍮🍨il dolce - dessert
💡P.S. Did you know that apart from tourist places it may be difficult to get pizza for luch as it's considered an evening meal? Many places in the south don't light up their wood ovens before 7-8 p.m. That's also the typical time that the takeaway pizzerias open.
🍕But, there are also restaurants and trattorias that serve pizza at lunch time & usually have a sign: "pizza a pranzo"🍕

C'era una volta = once upon a time...
Once upon a time, my breakfasts looked like that in the picture... OK, half of what you can see in the pic, really 😋
Italians certainly got this right - nothing beats the Italian classic: cappuccio e cornetto combo!

📚🐛As a bookworm myself, I always look for ways to incorporate books (short stories or fragments of longer books) into my language classes.
🌞All my younger learners are familiar with classics such as “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”, “Brown Bear”, “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt”, or “The Gruffalo” in the language they are learning. 🤹♀️
🎭Books for young readers are written in a simple, often repetitive language with lots of words that resemble sounds, like “pop”, “rustle”, “click” (onomatopoeia). Plus, stories for children are all about the action so kids have no problem following the plot, especially if they get a lot of visual prompts, or get involved in acting out bits of the book. It so much fun! 🎼🎬
📖🎓For a bit more advanced learners, “short stories” in foreign languages are a great option to try. They are special books for language learners, so they’re written in simple vocabulary and grammar (some of them have levels – beginner, intermediate etc.). There are also the “parallel text” type books, similar to short stories, but they have the text in a foreign language on one page and the translation into English on the next, so you can check how well you’ve understood it! 🏆🏅

🇮🇹 Abbiamo la neve, e voi?
🇬🇧 We've got snow, and you?
❄Can you possibly not love snow?❄
🌨I really believe that snow follows me! A few years back when I lived in Puglia it snowed just before Christmas, first time in about 30 years! ☃️🌨
🔎Here's a handful of snow/winter vocabulary:
⛄❄🌨 il inverno - winter
🌨 la neve - snow
❄ il fiocco di neve - a snowflake
💧 il ghiaccio - ice
☃️ il pupazzo di neve - a snowman
🌡 fa freddo -it's cold
⛷sciare - to ski
⛸pattinaggio sul ghiaccio - ice-skating
