On a recent project, we worked with a brilliant group of secondary school students and the amazing team at

Together, the students developed, performed and filmed their own performance, along with an origional soundtrack - all within the space of just one day!!

An unforgettable evening!!

The Number Nine Concert Series #3 was a huge success — thank you to everyone who came and absolutely packed the room with support for our brilliant young artists. 💛

We were amazed with the array of performances, including singing solos and duets, piano, guitar, and even a game concept showcase. 🎮

The night ended with a debut performance from our NEW choir, Nine Voices, with a joyus rendition of Julius Eastman's 'Stay On It' !

We CANNOT WAIT till the next one!! ✋

I'm excited for our second NV rehearsal this afternoon at Hand Of! This is such a great and unique opportunity for young people get to sing next to professional musicians and mentors, be creative, have fun and shape what it means to sing in a choir. And I am over the moon to get to direct it. 🌚✨

🎙️ When I was younger, I took singing lessons with my piano teacher and performed in her shows. I loved being on stage and was invited to join youth choirs… but I just didn’t feel connected to that scene. So I went without choral music until I was 23.

Today, choral music is a huge part of my life. Over the past ten years I’ve been catching up with all the talented people I work with who’ve sung in choirs since childhood. My experience made me wonder: how can I open up opportunities for young singers who might not feel at home in a traditional choir?

Introducing: Nine Voices – a FREE alternative choir for young people aged 14–18 in the North East. From 5th November we'll rehearse on Wednesdays from 4:00–5:30pm at Hand Of, 9 Akenside Hill, NE1 3XP 👉 handof.co.uk/nine-voices

Over the past six months, a group of secondary school students have worked incredibly hard to create two amazing short films inspired by their lives in the North East. 🌍

We were blown away by the full house and the support shown for our brilliant young filmmakers.

We couldn’t be more proud! 💥

What happens when 40 students from 4 schools come together with 8 professional artists for 1 day?!

✨ The Spinning Yarns Project! 🎭

We spent the day at Northern Stage Theatre working with an amazing team of students across four different secondary schools in the North East.

They worked together with professional artists, musicians and theatre practitioners to tell the incredible story of National Heroine - Grace Darling!

Students got stuck into shadow puppetry, live projection, crankie creation, performed alongside an original, live musical soundtrack!

Within only 5 hours of meeting one another - students were performing on stage to a packed audience! We’re INCREDIBLY impressed with you all! 👏

☀️ The sun showed up just in time for The Rigg and Furrow Project!⁠ 🌿🎶

We've had a brilliant week at Capheaton Hall and Middle Farm, making music, pond dipping, wild walking and field recording!

We teamed up with amazing artists, musicians, theatre makers, and farmers to explore the rich history of Northumberland’s landscape, and topics like biodiversity, sustainable farming, and urban land use to learn how we can best care for it 🌾💚
