Creative Little Love Childcare

A couple of weeks ago the children were very excited to go to the allotment and visit the plants that they had grown from seed. They asked lots of questions about how we watered them, why there was netting over them and the reason they had to be moved and replanted. The children then helped plant some pumpkins in one of the beds.

Throwback to our previous topic where we explored healthy eating, the importance of keeping our body healthy and what our organs do. The children loved exploring the different vegetables and the marks they could make with them, all whilst talking about healthy eating.

We have started our mini beast topic, this is one of the children’s favourite topics. The children explored the tuff tray very eagerly and especially enjoyed the edible mud! We had lots of interesting questions -
🪱 how do worms breathe?
🐝 why do bees and wasps sting? Where do they live?
🐜 Where do mini beasts live?
🐛 why do they hide?

We spent lots of time thinking and predicting before looking the questions up together.

Oh how we love the bonds that our children have! We encourage the children to develop lovely strong bonds with their familiar adults in the setting and with each other. This creates a safe, nurturing and home from home feeling for each child.

This week we’ve been focusing on our ‘Books, Books, Books!’ Topic. One of the books we’ve been looking at is Aliens Love Underpants. We linked it into the pants are private topic by the NSPCC. It’s so sad that we need to cover this topic throughout early years and in education but so so important that they have some awareness.

We had such a lovely time celebrating world book day. We celebrated our love for books through activities, Chris read us a story and some of our lovely parents sent in videos of themselves reading a story too!
