🤔 Do you know how your child is using TikTok? 🤔

TikTok is a popular app for short-form video that users can interact with, along with direct messaging being another feature. 📱

It allows people to share videos with one another and create their own. While fun, it's important to consider the risks and privacy of this app.

In order to keep children safe from emerging AI dangers, we are looking to increase digital protection, including the websites and social media. 📱

ℹ️ To do this, from now on all photos in news stories will not all be posted on social media. We will post one photo on Facebook and Instagram and then include the link to the story on the website below, where all of the photos will be located. This is to limit the number of pupils visible on social media. ℹ️

We are also looking at ways to enhance photo protection on the website to reduce AI dangers to those photos. 📸

We look to increase safety, while making sure you can still see the wonderful work that happens in our school.

Good sleep is essential for pupil’s wellbeing, learning and behaviour. We’ve shared this helpful Sleep Hygiene poster with some simple tips to support a better bedtime routine at home. 🛏️

From reducing screen time before bed to creating a calm, consistent routine, small changes can make a big difference to your child’s sleep quality—and their focus and mood during the school day. 😴

The pupils have been using song and singing as part of their music therapy sessions, discovering new ways to express themselves. It has been wonderful to hear their growing talent, with many pupils gaining confidence and enjoying sharing their voices. 🎤🎶👏

Some of the pupils visited Blyth Beach on the hot last day of half term, enjoying a well-deserved ice cream in the sunshine. The trip was filled with smiles, laughter, and time to relax by the sea. ☀️🏖️🌊

They also spent some time walking Maggie, the Headteacher’s dog, adding to an enjoyable and relaxed end-of-term outing. 🐶

A reminder that Mary Astell Academy is hosting an open morning for professionals for those who would like to gain a clearer understanding of our work and see our provision in action. The session will offer the chance to observe day-to-day practice, meet staff, and explore how we support our learners.
