And finally - thank you so very much for the beautiful cards, flowers and gifts, we were truly spoilt! The messages in the cards were so personal and so heart-warming, they will always be treasured. Hopefully, we'll get to see many of you again soon, we know some children will be coming to Holiday club at Forest Hall and, we're sure to see some of you at the musical event at the Sage. We wont say goodbye, only- take care, until we see you again sometime soon # # #

As last week was our final week we wrote a goodbye message to all the children on the whiteboard. After seeing us do this, the children decided to write their own messages too. This was totally spontaneous and all their own work- how amazing are these messages? Thank you so much x🥰x

We've been very quiet of late and the time has come for us to let you all know that this is our last half term and we are closing Hazlewood Out of School Club.
Our last session will be breakfast club on Thursday 26th of May. After the half term holiday, breakfast and after school clubs will be provided as detailed by the school who will contact families to let them know what is in place.

We are truly grateful for being trusted to provide a service in such a wonderful school and to work in partnership with Mr Bommel, the staff team and families. We are privileged to have shared the fun, laughter and pleasure of caring for the most amazing children and families. We are sad to be leaving you all, you really are the best we could ever have hoped for.

Thank you all, for trusting us, for supporting us and, for making the job we do such a pleasure, Hazlewood really has been our happy place. We will carry the memories of the time spent with the children of Hazlewood in our hearts and hope you will remember us with a smile and happy memories.🥰

We have been asked to share the following information in support of the Dragonfly Cancer Trust. This sounds like a fabulous opportunity to grab yourself some bargains and to support a very worthwhile charity ❤

Dragonfly Cancer Trust is a charity that supports young cancer patients with a palliative diagnosis. They fund memory-making experiences, keepsakes and creative therapy to help families to make the most of each moment together.

We're holding a pop-up event at St Gabriel's Church in Heaton (Newcastle) on Wednesday 20th April and we're looking for wonderful people to help us spread the word in our local community.

It's a shopping event and there will be loads of stalls selling ladies' clothing from high street brands with at least 50% off the retail price.

It's advanced tickets only which are just £6 and 100% of this will come to the charity.
To buy tickets, or see all the event details, please visit:

Yesterday in after school club the children excitedly found a ladybird. Sadly, they discovered it had died and they took it upon themselves to give it an elaborate send off. They named the ladybird Georgie, gave him a funeral complete with a salute, a song, flowers and handwritten notes. Georgie's resting place is currently untouched and the children in breakfast club had the opportunity to view it this morning.
Working with children is never boring and they surprise you when you least expect it!

We've been talking about Spring and butterflies in club and the children created their own butterflies using a variety of methods. We talked about symmetry and how the butterflies wings have symmetrical patterns so decided that the ones we made should also have these. The children used string prints in folded butterflies to create some beautiful patterns, they designed and coloured and painted their own and, we even had one very talented girl show us how to fold origami butterflies - wow! One of the younger children proudly told us that butterflies come from caterpillars so she drew a caterpillar instead of a butterfly. We then created a fabulous display to show off these amazing masterpieces 🦋🥰🦋

Today is International Women's Day - celebrate who you are and make time for yourself today. We all know some amazing, inspiring, courageous women who are doing their very best every day but we sometimes forget to include ourselves with this. So- we salute each and every one of you, including the amazing women who make up our staff teams. Stand tall and proud and teach your daughters to do the same 🙌🥰⭐️
Who would you salute and give a shout out to?

We very much enjoyed celebrating Valentines Day yesterday (and this morning too) with some lovely activities. We asked the children to add names to the heart on the whiteboard of anyone they loved and were a little surprised when one child initially wrote 'Donald Trump;'. Sarcasm at its best!! He did rub it out and add something different though, its looks great doesn't it? 😃

We set up a Valentine activity with playdough to enable the children to express their own creativity and enjoy some mindfulness. Not surprisingly, the older children love being able to access this in oosc as its not something they otherwise have much opportunity with. We have some very artistic and creative children ❤❤

We also provided paper hearts and asked 'Who do you love, and why?' and once we explained they could add anyone at all including best friends, their family, parents and pets they were all very keen to write on one. We displayed these on our tree and they look beautiful. 🥰

We had yummy heart shaped iced cookies at tea time and we all took love hearts home too- this went done very well.
Thank you also to a certain little Romeo who surprised with a beautiful red rose each, 🌹 someone is going to be a real charmer when he grows up 😃🥰
