Play is not a warm-up for learning.
It is the learning. 🙌

When children build towers, they’re exploring balance, force, and perseverance.
When they role-play, they’re rehearsing language, empathy, and social rules.
When they transport, line up, pour, and repeat - they are wiring their brains.

Yes, at times it may look messy.
It may sound noisy.
It may not always look “academic.”

But play is where executive function is strengthened.
Where resilience is built.
Where problem-solving is born.
Not through instruction, but through exploration 🧠

The truth?..
If we rush play, we rush foundations.
And strong foundations cannot be hurried.

Protect play.
It’s doing more than you think. 🌈🫶🏻❤️

It's been a while since I posted on here but lots of things have been happening! We have moved house! We're still in the same area but with a bigger and better space, we now have a play room!! It's still a work in progress but the children love it and so do I 🥰🌞

Shannon's Little Sunshines is an Ofsted-registered setting. I have many years experience working in education and hold a first class degree in Primary Education as well as Qualified Teaching Status. I’m proud to offer a fun learning environment in a home from home setting. We love to get involved in lots of sensory, messy and creative play with year round access to a range of outdoor activities. 🌞 Hot spring days in the sun! 2 Little Sunshine's having their afternoon nap and one splashing away in the pool! 🌞

So so so much fun! Lovely to have all the children settled now. Here's some of the things we have been getting up to! 🌞

🌞 What brilliant fun we've been having these past 2 weeks! I can't believe my luck, being able to call this my job is crazy. I've absolutely loved having these beautiful children with me and can't wait for all the adventures and fun that is yet to come. 🌞

So it's official, we have an opening date! Totally blown away by the support and interest in my little business. I can't wait to get started with my lovely families and share all the fun we're going to have with you all. Despite being in a lockdown this really is a wonderful start to 2021! 🌞

Had 2 visits today meeting absolutely lovely families. We made Christmas cards and pictures, built towers like this one and practiced our throwing, catching and kicking balls in the garden. I can't wait to get started and play with these Little Sunshines, we're going to have so much fun!

Who can build the tallest tower?
