From the SEND Department 🧡 at Callerton Academy:

We would like to share information about Young People’s Mental Health Safe Haven at Nook, provided by Everyturn Mental Health and Children North East.

The service offers free and confidential drop-in mental health support for young people aged 13–17, or 18 if still in full-time education. Support can help young people understand themselves, manage thoughts, feelings and friendships, grow in confidence, and feel more in control.

Support is available at Nook Newcastle, Monday–Thursday from 4pm–8pm, and Nook Gateshead, Friday–Sunday from 4pm–8pm. Phone and online appointments are also available for those who need them.

Music 🩵 at Callerton Academy:

Instrumental lessons are available for students who would like to develop their musical skills or learn an instrument at Callerton Academy.

Lessons are available in violin, piano, guitar, bass guitar, drum kit, voice, flute, clarinet and alto saxophone, delivered in partnership with Newcastle Music Service.

Students can speak to Mr Szunko or Miss Luscombe for more details, or parents and carers can contact the school reception for information about prices and availability.

🎤 Music Jam is back! 🎸

Students are invited to come along, make use of our music equipment and play whatever they like! Whether you fancy singing, playing guitar, getting behind the drums or having a go on the keyboard, everyone is welcome. 🎹🥁

🏀 Basketball Club Trials!

Students interested in joining Basketball Club are invited to come along to trials every Thursday after school in the Sports Hall.

All you need is your PE kit and plenty of enthusiasm! ⛹️

Music 🩵 at Callerton Academy:

🎸 School of Rock is back! 🤘

Our after-school School of Rock sessions take place every Monday from 3:05pm–4:05pm in the Music rooms, led by Mr Phethean from Newcastle Music Service.

Students can bring their own instrument or use one of ours. Everyone is welcome, but students will need a little experience on at least one of the following: keyboard, bass guitar, guitar, drums or voice. 🎹🎤🥁

Whether you want to play, sing or be part of a band, School of Rock is a brilliant opportunity to make music with others and develop your performance skills.

Years 8–11 💙 at Callerton Academy:

We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back tomorrow!

After welcoming our new Year 7 students today, tomorrow we’re excited to have our Years 8, 9, 10 and 11 students back with us and to get the new academic year underway together.

⏰ A reminder of our new school timings: all students should arrive at school by 8:30am, ready for form time to begin at 8:35am. Students arriving after 8:35am will be marked as late.

Students should arrive in full school uniform, with their school bag and all the equipment they need for the day. We also ask families to ensure students are following our uniform and jewellery expectations ready for their return.

We hope everyone has had a restful and enjoyable summer, and we can’t wait to welcome you all back through the doors tomorrow!

Year 7 💛 at Callerton Academy:

Tomorrow is the big day!

We’re really excited to welcome our new Year 7 students to Callerton Academy tomorrow as they begin their secondary school journey with us.

⏰ Students should arrive for around 8:30am, ready for form time and the start of their first day at Callerton.

Students should arrive in full school uniform, with their school bag and the equipment they need for the day.

A gentle reminder to parents, carers and students to check our uniform expectations ahead of tomorrow morning. Jewellery should not be worn in school, including rings and facial piercings, and students should not arrive wearing additional ear piercings beyond those permitted within our uniform policy.

We know there may be a few nerves alongside all the excitement! There will be plenty of staff around to welcome students, help them find where they need to go and support them throughout their first day. 💛

We can’t wait to see you tomorrow and officially welcome you to the Callerton Academy community. Here’s to the beginning of an exciting five years ahead! 🌟
