day on our plates training for a half marathon🏃🏼♀️💪🏻
she’s finally got a place on the GNR.. what the helly so that’s meant we are back to our 3 day run weeks!
One thing to note is that food shouldn’t be saved for after the run.. it’s part of the training and is SO SO important!
Before a run, I’m making sure I’ve got some easy-to-digest carbs in. Things like toast, bagels, oats, cereal, banana etc. Nothing overly complicated, just enough carbohydrate to give me some readily available energy and make the run feel a whole lot better. Especially for longer runs, going in under-fuelled can make such a difference to how you feel halfway through.
For longer sessions, I’ll also think about hydration and electrolytes. It’s not just about drinking loads of water - when you’re sweating for a longer period, replacing fluids and electrolytes can be useful too.
And then post-run is where I’m really prioritising protein + carbs. I want to replenish the energy I’ve used, get some protein in to support muscle recovery and actually give my body what it needs to adapt to the training.
The rest of the day is honestly just balanced meals, plenty of protein, carbs, fruit and veg, fats etc.
You can’t expect your body to train harder, recover, build strength and improve your running if you’re constantly trying to eat as little as possible.. FOOD IS FUEL. amennnn ladies🫶🏼
