Heebie Jeebie's Liverpool This is not how we treat bands or musicians, this is not the first time you have behaved like this and I would make a pretty sizeable bets it won’t be the last….
Avoid this venue if you value your mental health ✌️
Remember you/your band deserve better and do not have to let venues like this devalue you and the work you have put in.
You are valued, don’t give up and keep rocking🤘
Last night, we should have had our final gig of the year: Beneath the Ruin plus support from Fractures in the Sky and Apparitia. Instead, we stayed at home. Let's discuss that.
LKMusic has been an active promoter in the city throughout 2022, and we have worked with so many wonderful Liverpool venues, including Outpost and The Zanzibar who have all been absolute pleasures to work with. We have also booked three gigs in the past with Heebie Jeebies (EBGBs) – however, only one of these gigs went ahead.
Our first Heebies gig was quiet - but Liverpool is a hard sell at the best of times, let alone on a Sunday. By the second gig, we were told if we hadn’t sold 80 tickets minimum then it wasn’t worth opening the doors, which is deeply insulting in the first place, and we were pushed into cancelling the event.
Heebies did not once advertise either of these events despite it being stated in their terms that they promote booked events across all of their social media. After the lack of support during these first two gigs, I did not want to work with Heebies again. However, we wanted to put this final show on in 2022 and everywhere else was fully booked, leaving us with little choice. We decided to chance it with them again, hoping it would be third time lucky.
I had informed Beneath the Ruin, Fractures in the Sky and Apparitia of this encounter I’d had with Heebies; they found it so unbelievable that they contacted the venue to confirm this. Heebies denied it categorically - I was called on Monday 21st November and the venue said that they do not cancel gigs, contrary to our prior experience. During this phone call I also reconfirmed the hire fee with them. The venue then pushed for presale numbers, which I was happy with, but the numbers we gave were simply not enough for them.
The day after the free cancellation window had ended, the venue decided to change the terms of payment, knowing it was too late for us to back out. They upped the fee by £50, telling us they wanted it upfront rather than dependant on bars intake, which is the usual term that had already been agreed upon. I confronted them on the fee change and they claimed that I never had the phone call in which we discussed many things including clarifying the fee and tried to gaslight me into believing I’d made the whole conversation up. They then said if it wasn’t paid they’d be happy to ‘move’ our event to a different date in the new year, but they wouldn’t open doors for us if we decided to go ahead on Sunday 11th December, yet again being told we were not worth it. I showed the bands this email, and we all sadly agreed to postpone the gig as we simply could not justify giving money to this venue anymore.
I did confront the venue via email, telling them we would not be going ahead and we wouldn’t be conned into paying cancellation because they changed the terms. We have not yet had a response. We are now looking to go ahead with this date in the new year.
Working with this venue has been utterly exhausting, I’ve been physically sick over having to constantly fight to be listened to or get any answers out of them, it was almost a literal daily fight with them. The Liverpool music scene is hard enough for alternative and rock artists without venues screwing us over, I thought we were all in this together. Apparently not.
It breaks our hearts to have to give this statement, as grassroots music is incredibly important to both of us. We have so much gratitude and appreciation in our hearts for venues who understand the importance not only of keeping the local music scene alive, but making working in that scene accessible to newer, non-profit organisations such as ourselves.
We'd just like to apologise again to the bands, and to the wonderful people who were excited to see them play. Keep your eyes peeled for further details, but for now we're going to have a bit of a breather and get our heads together on next steps.

Anyone ever seen a bass wired like this?? Apparently it's an active dimarzio system but has no power source. There is a push/pull pot on there which I'm assuming is a coil tap.
