Please find attached, a couple of posters advertising the return of the 3rd amazing Children’s Book Festival – ‘Festival of Brilliant’ and the Young Writers’ group, Sparks, which is now looking at new bookings from Sept onwards.
Festival of Brilliant – this takes place in the grounds of Biddulph Old Hall and pulls together some of the best children’s authors, illustrators and fun wraparound activities in the UK. Highlights this year include the former Children’s Laureate Joseph Coelho and the Comic Man – Marc Jackson. The Festival of Brilliant - 10-11 Jul 2026 - OUTSIDE
Sparks Young Writers – meet at Newcastle library once a month and the age group is 8-12 years. They are now taking bookings for the next academic year, starting Sept. Newcastle Under Lyme Junior 2026-7 - Spark Young Writers

Year 3 have being taking on the role of archaeologists in English today, searching out for Roman artefacts linked to their new text ‘Escape from Pompeii’

Yr3 - a lovely morning pond dipping and sketching in the village. Lots of fun and happy pupils.

Yr3 - after a tasty dinner for hungry people, the children have tried out their orienteering skills. After our second evening of bedtime story, they are all settling down. Looking forward to our final day tomorrow.

Yr3 have shown their artistic side today. They have completed two pieces today- one using pen line work, oil pastels and ink painting and a second working on sketching with art pencils and using oil pastels for light and dark shading.

The first part of Yr3 art day with the specialist teacher is underway at Tattenhall - already looking amazing!!!

Yr3 on their residential - all up and enjoyed a lovely breakfast. A quick run round and now our art day is just starting!

Yr3 arrived at Tattenhall and after settling into dorms, we enjoyed a walk round the village and a lovely visit to the church. Now the children are enjoying a fabulous dinner - lots of hungry children!

Yr3 have finished off Chester with a walk along the river and through the lovely park (with friendly squirrels) and finished with a look at the amphitheatre.
