Following the children’s interests, our writing area was transformed into a Santa’s letter and post box corner. The Little1’s enjoyed exploring the space, choosing paper and envelopes, making marks, and posting their letters into the Santa post box.

This encouraged lots of purposeful mark making and conversation as we talked about who the letters were for and what might be written inside.

Firework mark making 🎇

The Little1’s explored a firework-themed mark making sensory tray, using their fingers, sticks and simple tools to create lines, swirls and patterns. The children were fully engaged, watching how their movements created different firework shapes and effects.

We used biodegradable glitter to add sparkle to the tray while being mindful of the environment.

This activity supported:
Fine motor development and early pre-writing skills
Expressive arts and design through creative mark making
Communication and language as we talked about the patterns and movements
Confidence and curiosity through child-led exploration.

The Little1’s enjoyed a meaningful visit to RAF Cosford as part of our Remembrance Day experiences. They explored the museum, tried on hats and uniforms, and showed lots of curiosity as they looked closely at the aircraft and displays.

We talked gently about remembering and saying thank you, in a way that was age-appropriate and respectful. The Little1’s were engaged and thoughtful throughout, taking everything in at their own pace.

A lovely day of learning about the past, building understanding of the wider world.

A focused activity using elastic bands and a wooden peg board. The Little1’s explored stretching, hooking and moving the bands, developing fine motor control, hand–eye coordination and concentration.

This child-led activity supported curiosity, problem-solving and confidence as the Little1’s explored at their own pace

The Little1’s enjoyed a pumpkin painting activity. Each Little1 painted their own pumpkin, choosing their colours and exploring the paint in their own way.

There was lots of concentration as the Little1’s experimented with colour and texture, building confidence and creativity at their own pace. The focus was very much on enjoying the process rather than the finished result.

A hands-on activity that supported creativity, fine motor skills and self-expression 🎃

The Little 1’s enjoyed a lovely, relaxed Diwali experience outdoors. We took our resources outside and set them up on tables and benches so the Little1’s could explore in the fresh air.

The Little1’s loved moulding and shaping clay to make Diwali lamps, supporting their fine motor skills and creativity. They also enjoyed trying mango lassi and tasting traditional foods, encouraging curiosity and confidence with new flavours. Gentle Diwali music played alongside our activities, creating a calm and inviting atmosphere.

Throughout the day there were lots of opportunities for communication and language, sensory exploration and learning about the wider world, all led by the Little1’s interests and at their own pace. A really special way to celebrate together.

Our New Adventure Wagons!

These will allow the Little1’s to head off on safe, comfortable adventures, exploring our local environment, woodland walks and community outings together. The wagons support inclusion, teamwork and shared experiences, while giving the Little1’s plenty of opportunity to chat, observe and enjoy the world around them.
