🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁We are delighted to announce that our Top Chef Wendy has been shortlisted and is a FINALIST for Nursery Chef of the Year with the National Nursery Awards. As our families know, Wendy designs delicious and nutritionally balanced menus for every child who attends our nursery, using locally sourced produce. We’d like to say a big thank you to our parents and external agencies who supported her nomination. We love to give Wendy our praise and recognition but it’s fantastic to now have it on a national scale 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

🩶 As we help our newest children to settle at nursery, we have been able to reflect on our value of connection. This week, we have planned lots of experiences to help build connection with nature, the seasons and weather, our community and to value each other and how unique we are.

🎨We’ve explored new vocabulary and languages in our play, tried new messy and creative experiences alongside friends, spent time enjoying both indoors and outside and made special bonds with the adults who care for children on a daily basis.

🍁As the season changes to Autumn, we’re excited to see the fantastic experiences we can plan for children to help embed connection within our nursery and beyond 🧡

👀After observing children emptying and filling different containers and mixing in the home corner, Zoe extended the experience for children and provided cloud dough for the children to explore. They enjoyed the sensory touch of the dough and particularly enjoyed having the cake cases to fill and empty using various utensils 🥄 Thank you Zoe for planning activities based on things the children love to do

✨What an extraordinary, action-packed time of discovery and wonder in our toddler room! ✨

🫘Our little adventurers leapt straight into the magical realm of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’, opening our room door and finding a multi-sensory journey through storytimes, engineering, and nature exploration!

📚Our adventure began with an interactive, high-energy storytelling of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk.’ The room was filled with wide eyes and gasps as we gasped at the tiny magic beans, climbed the imaginary giant stalk, and practiced our best "Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum!" deep giant voices.

Inspired by Jack's journey, our little builders set to work using loose parts—blocks, cardboard tubes, green fabrics, and natural sticks—to design their very own beanstalks reaching for the sky!

🫛The excitement spilled outdoors as we headed to our allotment on a real-life bean quest! Armed with curious minds and keen eyes, the toddlers hunted through the greenery until they discovered real, velvety green beans hiding among the leaves. We gathered in a circle to inspect our findings, snapping open pods, feeling the smooth textures inside, and comparing colours. What a truly magical time we had!

🌟 Exploring with Tuff Trays! 🐞✨

Today, we turned our tuff tray into a mini bug hunt! 🕵️‍♀️ Hidden pretend bugs provided endless fun and learning for our little ones under two 🦋.

Here’s some of the benefits of a simple activity like this for younger children :

• Sensory Play: Touching and discovering different textures!

• Language Development: Learning new words while exploring.

• Cognitive Skills: Problem-solving as they search for hidden treasures!

• Fine Motor Skills: Strengthening their little fingers while they grasp and move the bugs.

• Imaginative Play: Creating stories around their finds!

It’s a perfect way to combine fun and learning! What themes do you love for tuff tray play? 🌈 next we can take our hunt into the garden and find real mini beasts and bugs 🕷️

🌧️🌈⚡️☔️☀️❄️We love to celebrate the seasons and weather they bring. After observing the children being very interested in the rain, Zoe created a sound activity to mimic the sound of the rain, the sounds were made when the rice was dropped on the metal objects. The children were very engaged in the experience and it’s something we thought you can share at home as we transition into Autumn 🍂

❄️ Ice Rescue Play! 🧊 Home Activity Idea…

✨Looking for a simple, low-cost activity that keeps babies and toddlers mesmerised? Here’s an activity planned by our amazing Jessica which can be done at home.

Freezing small toys in ice blocks is a sensory powerhouse for babies under 2 and toddlers!

Here is what they are learning while they play:

🤲✋Fine Motor Skills: Grasping slippery ice strengthens tiny hand muscles and the pincer grasp.

💭Early STEM: They learn cause-and-effect as they watch solid ice melt into liquid water.

🧠Problem Solving: Figuring out how to scrape, tap, or pour water to free the toy builds brainpower.

🗣️Language Boost: Perfect for introducing words like cold, slippery, melt, and brrr!

💡 Top Tip: For younger babies, use warm water in a small sq**rt bottle or sponge to speed up the melting and keep little hands from getting too chilly. For older children, you could replace the objects for dinosaurs 🦕 and provide little tools to excavate them for older
