𝑾𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒅𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 '𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒉 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏' at the Stoke-on-Trent & Staffordshire Institute of Technology last week to showcase the Teacher Training Research Projects across NSCG campuses.
Lead Teacher Trainer, Amanda Garside and Lecturer, Heather Rushton were delighted to be joined by Maggie Law, Director of Vocational Studies and a variety of teachers from NSCG who welcomed the chance to explain and showcase their Independent Research Projects as part of their PGCE studies. The group also explored and investigated various aspects of curriculum design, teaching pedagogy, learning strategies and assessment methods.
Prior to the event, each teacher involved had carried out an in-depth focus into a chosen area within their subject specialism to highlight some of the challenges, issues and insights within these areas.
Thought provoking topics included: 'Funding Constraints on Mechanical Engineering in FE', 'Using Non -Exam Text to Engage GCSE Resit Students', 'Placement Availability for the future', 'Mobile Phone Use in Class to Support Learning', 'The use of AI – help or hindrance? and more more...
NSCG is leading the way in creative research in order to enhance the teaching and learning experiences of all students, and we couldn't be prouder of their hard work and dedication. A huge well done to everyone involved. 👏

A 𝒉𝒖𝒈𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 to our Chair of Governors, Simon Leech! 🎉🏆
We’re incredibly proud to share that Simon has been named the winner of the Governance Award at the Sixth Form Colleges Association Awards - recognising more than three decades of outstanding governance and strategic leadership.
As our outgoing Chair of Governors, Simon’s dedication, vision and commitment have played a pivotal role in shaping NSCG into the college group it is today. From guiding us through landmark mergers, supporting our journey to achieving back-to-back ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted ratings, and overseeing transformational investment across our campuses, his impact has been truly remarkable.
Simon has always been a passionate advocate for our students, staff and communities, and we couldn’t think of anyone more deserving of this recognition.
Thank you for everything you have done for NSCG, Simon - we’re delighted to celebrate this fantastic achievement with you. 👏💙
