We are excited to share information about this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, a fantastic opportunity to keep children reading and engaged over the summer holidays.
The Summer Reading Challenge is a free programme run through local libraries and online. This year’s theme is “Read to the Beat,” celebrating the joy of music and how it can inspire us through stories and book.
By taking part, children can choose their own books to read, collect rewards, and work towards earning a certificate or medal on completion. The challenge is designed to build confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of reading—95% of children who take part say they read more as a result. The challenge begins on 4th July 2026, and children can sign up at their local library or online.
We encourage all pupils to take part, as it is a fun and rewarding way to support their reading skills during the summer break.

⚽ 🏴 ‘Football’s coming home, it’s coming home, it’s coming!’ 🏴 ⚽
We’ve had a fantastic morning in Year 2 getting ourselves geared up for the World Cup! The children have loved showing off their football kits and taking on their teachers in a children vs staff penalty shoot out! And of course the staff who are not competitive at all had to take a few penalties against each other too!
Now come on England, bring it home! 🏆
