Almost a year ago, I had the great fortune of travelling to the source of the martial art I have dedicated my life to. Exploring and sharing this passion with so many teachers and students was phenomenal.

But nothing could prepare me for China's mountains. ⛰️

Majestic beauty, sheer drops, manmade waterfalls, and even surprise elevators for well-timed shortcuts (a real lifesaver given one of us was on crutches for over 10km!). We encountered the unexpected climb after climb.

Where some might have panicked facing a cliff edge after following the wrong sign, the peace of just being at the source was overpowering. Finding the path that resonates with your purpose helps you embrace the unexpected with an open mind and a happy heart. The true peak is in our mind, rather than under our feet.

China taught me what I already knew, but in much deeper and unexpected ways: Shaolin Kung Fu is my guide, through and through. 🐉

Are you standing on the right mountain? Do you feel peace with where you are at?

If you're still searching for that path and inner peace, you are very welcome to come train with us and see if you can discover it through Kung Fu🙏

“Do you have the patience to wait until your mud settles and the water is clear?”

— Tao Te Ching

In Kung Fu, balance is not simply standing still. It is remaining calm when life pulls you in different directions. It is finding focus when distractions compete for your attention. It is learning to move with purpose rather than reacting to every challenge.

A progressive, community-led Shaolin martial arts school in West Wales. Red Dragon Kung Fu blends mixed styles, traditional practice and modern self-defence skills to provide a holistic martial arts education.

One of the things we’re most proud of at Red Dragon Kung Fu School isn’t the kicks, punches, or forms…

It’s seeing friendships grow.

Martial arts gives children a place to belong, build confidence, work together, and have fun in a positive environment.

Because the best memories are often made between the training drills.

🐉 Building strong people, not just strong community.

An afternoon of tea, journaling & Kung Fu in the Year of the Fire Horse .wales 🔥 Setting our intentions isn't just for the beginning of a new year, but an every day practice to observe, to shape, to cherish them. Like with a cup of tea, our intentions go cold if we do not embrace the moment to savour them. May the promise of Spring breathe new life into your intentions and may the momentum of the fire horse continue to carry your intentions beyond the horizon you seek 🙏🌿🌸 Here is a gentle reminder to reconnect with them and with yourself today. Have a great day 🙏😊

Making time for rituals fostering antifragility, like bone conditioning or cold exposure, not only enhance our practice but allow us to meet life's challenges with an open mind. Taleb writes "Antifragility is beyond resilience or robustness. The resilient resists shocks and stays the same; the antifragile gets better." Antifragile is the opposite of fragile. When faced with stress, disorder, and chaos, the antifragile adapt to thrive. Whatever challenge you are facing right now, ask yourself what it can teach you and how it can improve you and your life. This quality is an important one to develop in our fast-paced world of uncertainty, and one we explore through Shaolin Kung Fu. We run weekly classes across West Wales. All are very welcome 🙏 The journey starts with the courage to take that first step. Amituofo 🙏
