Absolutely delighted to announce that the Pre-school re-opened its doors today in the warmest and widest of welcomes! Sandra and Lesley have worked extremely hard, the place is spotless and they were ready for anything! Not sure how long the children will let them keep it like that 😂 really looking forward to meeting some of the new families over the coming weeks. There are still spaces for new children to come and join the chieveley crew. Get in touch to organise a visit.

Just a reminder about tonight's parents' meeting at the pre-school. This will give you the chance to vote for the pre-school's future. As such, we urgently require parents' attendance from 7pm. Thank you, we hope to see you soon.

Our Thursday Forest school sessions are so much fun.
The children love being outside learning about nature and developing new skills.

Spring walks. Enjoying our beautiful surroundings and looking for signs of spring 🐑

The children enjoyed making hedgehogs this week as part of our hibernation topic.
Using scissors to make snips for the hedgehog prickles.

Forest school was so much fun this week. We made clay tiger faces on trees as part of our Chinese New year celebrations.

After being struck by covid it was so lovely to welcome everyone back this week.
We all enjoyed making orange bird feeders and looking for birds in our outside area.
We are taking part in the Great British Bird Watch.

Our topic this week has been 'snow and ice'. The children have all enjoyed watching the ice melt, which has sparked lots of discussion about ice. How is it made, what is it, its cold - why?!

We settled into 2022 this week. Welcoming all our friends back to pre-school. We enjoyed painting with icy colours and talking about what we did over the holidays. Looking forward to our term ahead we will be learning all about Winter ❄️❄️

Remembrance honours the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces, veterans, and their families.
We remember and say Thank you.

Using a kitchen roll tube to create these fantastic firework pictures!

This week we have been exploring pumpkins. We have taken out the insides and used the seeds in our play doh and gloop, painted them, hammered them and shape sorted them!

This afternoon we have been decorating our pumpkins!

We have been out investigating the world around us this week and collecting lots of conkers!

This week the children made their own play dough everyday.
A great activity that promotes listening, fine motor skills and supports our imaginations!

It's been a busy week printing, painting, snipping, mixing and making!

Our term topic is 'All about me'. We are very proud of our display board this term. The children spent time looking in the mirror and creating themselves using a range of materials.
Not only does this activity promote hand eye coordination, it helps children appreciate themselves and the world and people around them. 😊

Today at pre-school we made apple boats!!
The children used safety knives to cut the apples in half (helped by a practitioner) and then they decorated a sail. We then tested out our apple boats in the water.
It was great fun and promoted a lot of discussion about floating and sinking! They also taste good to!

Good luck to all our pre-schoolers. Whether you are moving onto primary, returning to us or its your first day with us.
We hope tomorrow is full of fun and laughter!

BA Hons in Children's Development and Learning at Reading University.

Bug hunting at pre-school. The outdoor's provides lots of opportunities to make exciting discoveries. For example 'what is under this log?'. Which in turn can prompt a range of questions!

Today we planted a tree to remember a friend we have lost ♥.
