Another fantastic day with ARK - Action for the River Kennet, this time for our oldest children in the federation, our Year 5 and 6's. Local geography and life cycles were brought to life on a beautifully sunny day!

Thank you for providing the children with such a super experience, it was a lovely way to end the summer term enjoying the wonderful countryside, just 10 minutes away from our fabulous rural schools Welford & Wickham CE Primary School and Stockcross CE Primary School.

🎶🌊 What a fantastic evening at the Berkshire Music Trust Junior Music Festival! 🌊🎶

Last night, children from across the Kite Primary Federation took to the stage at the Hexagon alongside more than 430 children from schools across the area, performing as part of this year's Junior Music Festival.

The journey to the big performance began many months ago, with weekly rehearsals in school and two area rehearsals where the children worked hard to learn all 17 songs, along with the actions and sign language that formed such an important part of the show.

Dressed in their finest sea-themed outfits, our pupils performed with enthusiasm, confidence and huge smiles, making us incredibly proud. It was a truly memorable experience and a fabulous event that the children (and staff!) thoroughly enjoyed being part of.

A huge thank you to our parents and families for their support with all the rehearsing and preparations, and to our staff for giving up so much of their time to make this opportunity possible for the children.

Finally, thank you to the team at the Hexagon and Berkshire Music Trust for organising such a wonderful event and giving our children the chance to be part of something so special.

What a fantastic day at Sutton Estates' Open Farm Day! 🌾🚜

We were delighted that 10 members of school staff and 4 children from the Kite Primary Federation — Stockcross Primary School, Welford and Wickham Primary Schools — volunteered their day to support this wonderful community event.

Throughout the day, we met over 150 families who enjoyed taking part in our activities, including planting pumpkin seeds 🎃, making cotton wool sheep 🐑 and creating colourful corn-on-the-cob prints using LEGO® bricks 🌽.

It was especially lovely to see a few familiar faces too, with children and parents from across our schools stopping by to say hello and join in the fun. Events like these truly highlight the strong connections between our schools and the wider community.

One parent commented:
"As a parent, it is fantastic to see the Kite Federation truly being part of the community – further emphasising how unique the schools, staff and children are."

A huge thank you to Sutton Estates for inviting us to be part of such a memorable day. We thoroughly enjoyed supporting what was a truly lovely community event.

Trinity MasterChef 2026

Stockcross CE Primary School and Welford & Wickham CE Primary School children proudly entered teams into the Trinity School MasterChef competition this year! Each team had a £15 budget to plan an impressive two-course meal.

With the wonderful support of willing parents, the children practised their menus beforehand and then cooked everything themselves on the day in the Trinity kitchen. They did an amazing job, showing creativity, confidence, and fantastic teamwork in the kitchen.

The children had a fabulous time and picked up some brilliant cooking and collaboration skills along the way. Welford also had the honour of returning last year’s winning trophy.

Although neither school took home the trophy this year, everyone had a fantastic time taking part and should be very proud of their efforts. Well done to all our young chefs!

A Wonderful World Book Day Across Our Federation!

Yesterday both of our schools celebrated a shared love of reading, and what a wonderful day it was!

At Welford & Wickham CE Primary School, the day began with an official welcome and a story in assembly from the wonderful Hungerford Town Crier (one of our parents), setting the tone for a day full of stories and imagination. We were treated to brilliant storytelling from two more game parent volunteers, one being Mr Hayes – a best-selling author and one of our parents governors – all 3 of whom who had the children completely captivated.

Our fantastic Reading Ambassadors lead the assembly, read a favourite story complete with some wonderful actions, showing their enthusiasm as they champion our Year of Reading.

At Stockcross CE Primary School, the pupils enjoyed their own fun World Book Day activities. Across the school there were beautifully decorated classroom doors, plenty of creativity, and even lobsters and pirates reading stories!

Across the federation all the children really enjoyed themed activities throughout the day, and made the most of the lovely weather with time to relax and read their books outside.

A truly fantastic day filled with imagination, laughter and a love of reading. 📖❤️

Stockcross PTFA Friends of Welford and Wickham Primary School

We are so proud of our pupils!

Eight of our Year 5 children recently attended the St Gabriel’s Maths Challenge, where they were split into two teams across the Federation and competed against 21 other local schools.

They were brilliantly supported by Mrs Smith, our Chair of Governors, who was incredibly impressed by their conduct, perseverance and positive attitude – truly living up to our school values throughout the event.

We were also delighted to hear that St Gabriel’s staff complimented our children on their teamwork and exemplary conduct, which made us all very proud. Thank you St Gabriel's School for having us and making us so welcome.

Well done to our fantastic Federation team – you represented us superbly! 👏📐➗🎉

Welford & Wickham CE Primary School Stockcross CE Primary School

Yesterday, each of the Federation’s two schools, Welford & Wickham CE Primary School and Stockcross CE Primary School sent a team of year 4 children to the St Gabriel's Maths Challenge. Although they didn’t come away with the overall win, both teams had a great time, received a very warm welcome and were delighted to take home a pencil and a badge. They reported back that the challenges were "quite tricky but also really fun"

A big thank you to St Gabriel's School for hosting the event and making us feel so welcome — it was a great experience for all involved and our Year 5s are looking forward to their turn next!

A very special day at Kite Primary Federation!

We were lucky enough to have a visit from the big man himself today! Every child across the federation had the chance to meet Father Christmas, share stories, sing carols and even ask him some very important questions. 🎅

A huge thank you to Father Christmas, the RAF Elves from RAF Welford, and the Friends of Welford and Wickham Primary School and Stockcross PTFA who helped support the gifts and make this magical experience possible for our children. What a wonderful way to spread some festive cheer! 🎁
