👻 Think you’ve spotted the trick?
Two images, one sound and two completely different words.
Say what you see out loud, find the homophone pair and drop your answer in the comments. 🌙⚔️

That’s the Halloween trick of homophones: English can sound exactly the same… and yet mean something completely different.

Still afraid of English?
No need! Besides, the best way to trick a trickster is to pull an even better trick🎃

What does being a B1 learner actually mean?

Can you handle an unexpected situation while travelling? Explain an opinion? Keep a conversation going, even when you don’t know the perfect word?

These questions shape the thinking behind the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): measuring language ability through real communication, not just knowledge.

And it’s a useful reminder that progress in English isn't always about getting everything right. Sometimes, it’s about being able to do something you couldn't do before.

💬 What's one real-life skill you think every English learner should develop?

Your coursebook is not always your lesson plan.

It gives you the direction, but what happens around those pages is where teaching comes in.
I use the vocabulary, reading, and activities in the coursebook as my starting point, then build around them based on what my students need.

Same book. Different teachers. Different classrooms.
That’s what ‘Learn it, your way’ means to me.

Every teacher has their own way, but one thing seems universal: teachers carry far too much.

Books, papers, pens, keys, tests and a coffee that has gone cold.

And somewhere between all of that is the weight of knowing that what happens in a classroom can stay with someone long after the lesson ends.

Years later, most of us still remember one teacher for reasons that had very little to do with the subject they taught.

Someone who believed in us, pushed us further, made us braver or made us better.

Happy World Teachers’ Day. 💙

English has been scaring learners for centuries. Yet every day, people from every corner of the world walk straight into it, say what they mean, and get understood.

This October, we're rewriting who gets to be scared. Those little mistakes, from country to country, have English properly terrified. 😱

Just don't get too attached to them. They feel like a treat: quick, easy, and good enough to get the message across. But over time they turn into a trick, the thing that gets in the way of real communication. 🍬

Afraid of English? English is afraid of you.

Put five B1 speakers in five different jobs and suddenly B1 means five different things.

And that distinction matters. In ETS’s 2026 study of 1,300+ HR decision-makers across 17 countries, 90% said English proficiency is critical to organisational success. The British Council also points to employers increasingly looking for specific English skills for different roles and working contexts.

That’s exactly where Career Paths comes in: English built around real professions, real terminology and real workplace situations.

Your English level might be B1, but your English shouldn’t stop there.

🏫Back to school usually comes with a question: “What are you going to learn this year?”

Maybe there’s a better one.

💡How do you want to learn it?

With curiosity instead of pressure, at a pace that keeps you moving instead of one that makes you want to stop, through things that make you think, speak, laugh, question, create and want to come back for more.

After all, learning shouldn’t feel like something we have to get through, but something we get to grow through. And there is no single “perfect” way for that to happen.

🛝For one learner, it might mean play.
🗣For another, conversation.
For someone else, structure, independence, challenge or simply finally finding an approach that works.

So this Back-to-School season, we find the’’ perfect’’ way to learn really overrated! We’re choosing the way that feels right enough to keep us learning.

Because when learning becomes a positive part of your life, you don’t just make progress. You want to keep making it.

This year, learn it, your way.

Are they missing the lines, or is the paper just too small for their big potential? ✍️

Let's be honest – the evidence points to the second one.

Paper lines guide letter sizing and spacing – but plenty of kids write straight past them anyway.

Here's why:
💪 They write from the shoulder and elbow first – finger control comes later
🧠 Eye-hand coordination is still under construction
🚀 Their imagination is already ahead of what their hand can keep up with

✨ So no, there's no need to push kids to stay inside the lines and now you know why.

👇 Feel free to share any "paper too small" moment you've caught your child having!
