Today, we had a wonderful time playing Connect 4! After carefully listening to Ieisha's instructions, the children eagerly joined in and welcomed everyone to participate. It was delightful to watch them compete to get four in a row! We utilised our fine motor skills as we placed the coins into the Connect 4 game.

Today in preschool, we organised two different activities centred around everyday life and role play. Initially, each child utilised their creative skills to help make purple playdough by following step-by-step instructions to combine all the ingredients. They then used the playroom tools and pretend kitchen utensils to create various flavoured cookies to be sold at the hospital and in a café. As they manipulated the tools and employed cutting stencils, they sharpened their fine motor skills.

The children also engaged in imaginative play with their peers, taking on the roles of doctors and mothers in a playful scenario. They showcased their creativity by describing the different injuries their 'babies' sustained and how these accidents occurred. Some babies had merely fallen over and bumped themselves, while others had more intricate injuries.

Today, we had a fantastic time following instructions to make our very own playdough! We mixed together oil, water, and flour, choosing the colour red for a love-themed ❤️ creation. Everyone had a turn to add the ingredients, and then Ieisha did a marvellous job mixing it all together. Once the playdough was ready, we explored its wonderful texture, with some saying it felt squishy and others likening it to slime. This fun activity was great for boosting our gross motor skills and allowed us to get creative as we shaped unique cookies with various flavours. After all the fun, we washed our hands carefully to keep those pesky germs away!

Today, we had a fun time learning about bandages and hospitals! We took the old bandages from our first aid box and dove into some role-play as nurses and doctors, caring for the injuries of our babies and dolls. Some little ones had head bumps, back pains, and broken arms. We talked about the best ways to wrap a bandage for cuts and scrapes then Ieisha helped us put these on by demonstrating first then we had a turn. This activity really sparked their creativity, letting each child create their own stories while they played. What a lovely experience!

Today in preschool, we explored the various animals found in the forest, such as deer, foxes, and squirrels. The children engaged in a discussion about the unique features of each animal and shared their thoughts on the different habitats where these creatures live. It was a wonderful learning experience! This allowed them to feel excitement as they asked to explore and learn about more animals in their different habitats which we will touch on next week!

Today in Pioneers, we had a great time exploring mark-making with paper, paint, and cars. The children loved using various tools and objects to create different patterns. They enjoyed mixing colours and used their fine motor skills as they pushed the cars through the paint, observing how the wheels created lines that were thin, thick, or wiggly. This fun activity not only helped them understand how different objects can create unique marks but also allowed them to learn about colour mixing. The children's engagement in this creative process was wonderful to see! 🌈

What a thrilling day we've had! Today, we explored the alphabet by matching letters to help us understand which ones sound and look alike. We kicked off the fun with some cut-out letters, saying each one out loud before finding its partner in the circles. It was cool to see how an uppercase M and W look alike when you turn them! Later, we pointed to and sounded out the first letter of our names. What a fantastic time!

Today in the Nest we had a variety of materials, including a light box, sensory boxes, colourful sensory scarves, wooden blocks, bubbles, and bright magnetic toys. When Mia switched on the light box in the dark the children crawled over excitedly! We explored everything within our reach and we were particularly intrigued by the magnetic toys and the light box. We also got out the bubbles which he was fascinated with.☺️

Matching memory game 🌈

Today in Pioneers, we gathered around the table with our friends to play a matching game. The children identified pictures to match with those on the boards in front of them. Once they were happily engaged, they swapped boards to discover new pictures to match up. This activity has really supported the children’s memory skills as they worked on identifying and matching different images. Additionally, it has helped them begin to understand basic colours while playing the matching game, fostering both cognitive and social development in a fun environment.

Today in preschool, we had such fun exploring various objects in water! I started by asking the children their thoughts on what might sink or float, and they made some great predictions. We then tested everything together! Each child showed wonderful understanding by using descriptive words like "heavy" and "light" to explain their ideas about why things floated or sank. It was a fantastic learning experience for everyone!
