The children all had a wonderful time at our sports day, it was so lovely to have you all along to watch and enjoy a yummy picnic with us in the sunshine βοΈ
This week the children here at Brightsparks have been learning about birds, π¦ for art attack they made some baby owls π¦ using chalk, in forest fun they made some yummy bird feeders to hang in the trees.π³ For science they made their very own rainbows π they look great! Have a wonderful weekend!
This afternoon the children enjoyed smelling and tasting some yummy fruits. They had a great time explaining how they smelt and taste. Some were not as tasty as others π
This afternoon the children had a great time experimenting with ice paints, this time we used food colouring, next time we will use paint and water to see which works best! We also tried to see what would happen when the colours melted together.

With it set to be another wonderfully warm day tomorrow we have a treat for those who stay for messy play on Friday afternoons. If your child is in all day tomorrow please bring in something they can wear so they can enjoy playing in the water. Maybe a small towel to help them dry off too! Many thanks π

Today the children have been celebrating The Queen's platinum jubilee, we have had great fun making flags and our very own crowns to wear for the celebrations π

The children had a wonderful today as we had The Cholderton rare breads farm come to visit, we had the chance to feed and hold some of the animals that came, here are some of the pictures, there will be more to follow.
We have really been enjoying the better weather here at Bright Sparks this term. We have been spending lots of time in our fabulous garden and enjoying our very first picnic of the year βοΈ
This afternoon the children enjoyed exploring what happened to sand when we mix it with shaving foam. They used some great descriptive words to explain how the mixture felt.
This afternoon the children ended the term with a yummy messy activity, we made (and tasted) some chocolatey nests, I think we all enjoyed it! π
Yesterday the children all brought in their home made Easter bonnets, I think you can agree they look fabulous. We also had a visit from the Easter bunny π° who left us some treats to find
This afternoon for sensory the children enjoyed a treat, they all had a piece of bread which they cut into four then on each piece the children spread some jam, honey, marmite and marmalade. The children used some great describing words when telling us what they taste like, then we had a vote if it was yummy π or not so yummy π
This week for art attack the children enjoyed being creative decorating their own crabs π¦ we have been looking at all creatures under the sea this term and the children have really enjoyed learning about the different animals that live there.
This afternoon in forest fun the children did some nature counting. They were all asked to find different objects in the garden, they worked great as a team to find and count the right amount of leaves, sticks and stones
Following our under the sea theme the children made their own jelly fish in art attack this week, they really enjoyed getting sticky fingers attaching the tentacles which were made from tissue paper and bubble wrap.
Our nursery rhymes this week were 'I hear thunder' and 'it's raining, it's pouring' so to end the week the children made their own rain cloud using cotton wool and finger prints π§
For forest fun this week the children started a little project using salt dough and different things we have found in the garden to make a lovely garden ornament, next week will shall paint them beautiful colours
Today the children have enjoyed dressing up and sharing some of their favourite stories with us to celebrate world book day, they all looked fab!
This afternoon the children enjoyed abit of early spring cleaning in the garden, they gave our cars, seesaws and other toys a good wash so they are nice a clean for next week. Have a lovely weekend π
For science this week the children all helped Miss Jilly build our new marble run, they all chose the pieces and how they should fit together. The children all took a turn to drop a marble down the shoots, it was very funny when the marble popped out of the run before it got to the bottom. Even our tiniest caterpillar had a go, although she did need some help to reach the top! π
This afternoon for art attack the children enjoyed making dinosaur fossils. They all took turns to make imprints of their chosen dinosaur then helped Miss Mia pour in the plaster of paris, we can't wait to see what they turn out like!
Last week in music the children listened to some original Chinese drumming music, they really enjoyed playing along to the beat on their own drums
The children finished the week with a cutting and sticking activity, they had to cut out the pieces of the weeks nursery rhyme and put them in the right sequence. They all knew 'hey di**le di**le' very well. Have a great weekend π
At the end of our music session this week the children all relaxed with some Chinese meditation music which they really enjoyed.

The children have been learning all about Chinese New Year, we have looked at dragons in art attack and in sensory today they tried some Chinese cuisine π we also made some tiger faces to celebrate the year of the tiger π―
This week in forest fun we have made some wonderful bird feeders for the garden. The children juiced the oranges, which they all enjoyed tasting, then we scooped out the flash and packed them full of bird seed. We hung some in the tree then quietly watched to see if any birds came down to try some
