Did you know that children have more tastebuds than adults? π
Yes, it's true! Children are born with approximately 10,000 taste buds, while adults typically have around 5,000. These taste buds are the tiny sensory organs on our tongues responsible for detecting different flavours like sweet, salty, sour, and bitter.
As we age, some of these taste buds naturally fade away, which is why children can be more sensitive to strong or bitter flavours. This is also one of the reasons why kids can be picky eaters. They might find certain tastes overwhelming that adults don't even notice.
So, the next time a child says their food is too spicy or bitter, it might be because their super taste buds are doing their job extra well! π
