Today we had our second forest school session at ❤️ we loved it. The older two had some time to explore independently which may have resulted in green feet 😅 whilst the younger two enjoyed observing, water play and feeding the Rams. Forest school is something I really value for so many different reasons and I can’t wait to take my mindees to some sessions in September 🌟

At Oak House, we like to follow the children’s interests. Want to run through a sprinkler in your fancy dress outfit? You go for it girls. These two are fiercely independent souls with giggles that brighten up your day and it was lovely to see them encourage each other to run through the sprinkler. Once they started, they couldn’t stop! Even the younger two started to joint in. We’ve had an absolute blast today. Started the day with a trip to a new forest school based in Blidworth (pictures to come) and ended it with plenty of water play, shared colouring to encourage turn taking between the two older children and attempting to build a house out of magnetic soft play ⭐️

From my first day of teaching to my last day yesterday (yes there were tears hence the puffy red eyes). 8 years of trying to inspire the children to be the best they can be, but for now it’s time for a change and an opportunity for me to focus on my own family ⭐️ My St Peter’s family, where I’ve spent the last 7 years, were truly the best (obviously mixed with some challenging times) and will always have a place in my heart ❤️ I’ve made some life long friends along the way and for that I’m truly grateful 🥰 Let the summer holidays commence…. Excited to be opening my home up to inspire some little ones in September ⭐️

Don’t mind us, just two friends having a chat in a pram and a trolley 🤩❤️ It was lovely exploring another new little role play centre in Tuxford at the weekend with - will definitely be taking some of my new mindees here in September! 🙌

Last week we met up with some childminders based not too far from us. We explored Daisy Made in Lincoln, had a picnic, played in the little park, saw some animals and topped it off with a little ice cream. It was also a chance for us to take one of our new mindees along so they can interact with new children too! We will definitely be back 😍 Once my biggest pickle was home, we went for a walk to the river and spotted lots of different animals including swans, dragon flys and lots of butterflies! 🦋

The best part about starting out as a childminder? Testing out all the local play groups and activities for under 5’s. Today we visited one in North Muskham and we were so impressed. Plenty for the children to do (both inside and outside) and it suited both girls perfectly 😍 it’s set on the grounds of an existing pre-school so had a range of areas suited to the EYFS curriculum. The teacher in me was smiling 😊 We will definitely be going here on a Monday again! ☀️

Two peas in a pod 🫛 This is Alfie, part of the Oak House Childminding crew. He’s an excitable 6 year old Springer Spaniel who loves a cuddle, a play with his ball, to bring you presents (namely teddies) and a good run on his walk. The girls often use him as a cuddle buddy in exchange for some kisses 🙌 We think dogs are amazing but we appreciate some people may not see them in this way which is why we have put in place a Pets Policy ⭐️ At key times of the day e.g arrival, mealtimes and departures, Alfie will be behind a door. During settling in sessions, if your little one is a bit anxious, we sit with them to show them he is okay and friendly. Policies can be shown upon request 🥰

Feeling inspired.. saw this home made music wall at a little community fair in Southwell today. So I’ve given myself until the summer holidays to source second hand pots and pans, something to scrape and some other bits to make our own music wall for Oak House. It may not be tuneful but music walls are great for communication and language skills, creating emotional and social connections, increased attention, memory and concentration, being accessible for all and finally, encouraging creativity and joy 🤩🙌

Sisters ❤️ There’s something special to be said about sibling bonds. I know it might not always last but I sure hope it does because we are SO lucky to be the ones who witness their love for each other. Okay, it may not always be sunshine and roses; Evelyn likes to be leader and Merryn is navigating how to share but overall they are a delight to be around. The other beautiful thing is they seem to have a lot of love to give others too… the children who have been coming for trials all seem to get a big dose of love from both girls and both Mark and I feel a huge sense of pride with that. As the saying goes, if there’s one thing to be in this unkind world, be kind 🌈
