A fantastic day at the North Lincolnshire Council SEND Conference for Professionals!

It was a pleasure to be part of today's conference at Scunthorpe Theatres, a great venue for bringing professionals together for a day of learning, collaboration and sharing good practice.

LEARN SEND Hub was delighted to be part of the delivery, with the keynote speech and afternoon workshops exploring Whole School SEND and Inclusion Bases.

A valuable opportunity to share expertise, reflect on current practice and explore ways to further strengthen inclusive provision across schools and settings.

That's a wrap on this round of our Lincolnshire County Council SEND Hubs training!

Yesterday marked the final session of our 10-week programme, bringing schools together to reflect on their progress, share experiences and look ahead to the next steps in developing their Specialist Inclusion Bases (SIBs).

Hosted by Ermine Primary Academy, the session included an insight into their own SIB journey, exploring the nasen neurodiversity training package and reflecting on the progress made by participating schools.

It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate achievements, share ideas and consider how to continue strengthening inclusive practice.

There was also time for Megan's memorable 'no music' music quiz, plenty of biscuits and some well-deserved laughter!

A huge thank you to Zoey and the team at Ermine Primary Academy for hosting us, and to all the schools who have engaged so positively throughout the programme.

Although the training has come to an end, the journey towards developing inclusive provision continues!

A fantastic day of Regional ECT Mentor Training at Boston Football Club today!

Our SEND Lead Practitioner, Jemma Thompson, was delighted to be part of the programme with L.E.A.D, supporting 100 ECT mentors across the region, helping them develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to support Early Career Teachers.

Today, 40 mentors came together to explore the role of a mentor, instructional coaching, deliberate practice and navigating challenging conversations.

Through professional discussions, self-reflection and practical activities, delegates had the opportunity to develop and refine their mentoring skills.

A brilliant day of professional learning and collaboration!

As part of British Dyslexia Association Dyslexia Awareness Week, our Director, Emily Walker, has shared her own personal experience of being dyslexic.

Through her blog, Emily offers a personal perspective on dyslexia and the importance of understanding and recognising the different ways people think, learn and experience the world.

By sharing her story, we hope to encourage further conversations, challenge misconceptions and raise awareness of dyslexia, both in education and beyond.

A brilliant first day delivering our Adaptive Teaching Pathway for North East Lincolnshire Council.

Such an engaged and reflective group, with lots of great discussion around barriers to learning, universal provision, scaffolding, independence and maintaining high expectations for every learner.

It was lovely to see everyone sharing their experiences, reflecting honestly on current practice and learning from one another throughout the day.

We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back for Day 2, where we’ll continue the pathway with a focus on assessment, collaboration, communication and assistive technology.

A great group and a fantastic start to the programme.

We loved being part of this!

Some of the LEARN SEND Hub team joined colleagues from C.I.T Academies to record stories for Chapel St Leonards Primary School’s fantastic virtual library yesterday.

It was such a lovely idea to be involved in, and we’re very pleased to see the library now has 18 stories for pupils to choose from.

We hope the children enjoy listening to them as much as we enjoyed recording them!

Thank you to Chapel St Leonards Primary School for inviting us to be part of it.

Our virtual library now has 18 books to choose from after some of the central staff at C.I.T Academies and LEARN SEND Hub recorded stories yesterday, joining our original storytellers from Carre's Grammar School and Kesteven & Sleaford High School.

The British Dyslexia Association Dyslexia Awareness Week starts today, so Jacqui’s choice for our Book of the Week couldn’t be more timely.

This week she has chosen 'This is Dyslexia' by Kate Griggs.
Jacqui says:

“What I really liked about this book is the way it challenges us to think differently about dyslexia. So often, particularly in education, conversations can quickly become focused on what a child finds difficult. Kate Griggs doesn’t ignore those challenges, but she asks us to look beyond them and recognise the strengths that can sit alongside them too.

The book explores ‘Dyslexic Thinking’ and strengths such as creativity, problem-solving, imagination and seeing the bigger picture. If we only ever look at a child through the things they struggle with, we can very easily miss the things they are actually brilliant at.

It’s an accessible read and one I would recommend to teachers, SENCOs, support staff and parents. Good SEND practice isn’t simply about helping children overcome barriers; it is also about noticing their strengths, building on them and making sure they get the opportunity to see those strengths in themselves.”

Yesterday, we were delighted to host the first C.I.T Academies Headteacher Development Day of the academic year at LEARN.

It was a valuable opportunity to bring our headteachers together to explore the latest developments across education, share practical ideas and consider how these can support everyday practice across our schools.

There was also plenty of time to connect, share experiences and learn from one another.

Thank you to everyone who contributed and to our headteachers for their continued commitment to leading, learning and supporting one another across CIT.
