Being a school governor is a rewarding way of making a voluntary contribution to the lives of local young people. Sutton-on-Trent Primary and Nursery school is looking for a new governor to join our team. Being a governor can be enjoyable, stimulating and rewarding and you do not have to be the parent of a child. We are actively seeking a co opted governor from our community.

We would be delighted to hear from anyone who has;

-An interest in the performance of the school.
-An open and enquiring mind and an ability to look at issues independently.
-The confidence to ask questions and join in discussion.
-A willingness to listen and make informed judgements.
-The ability to work well with others.
-Some time to spare - There will be 6 full governing body meetings (usually evenings) and 2 -3 visits to the school during the year.

⚽️ Wow! We could not be more proud of our footballers over the last week! ⚽️

Our boys team have played in 2 tournaments, finishing 1st in one this evening! 🏆 Thank you to the boys who stayed to support their teammates and help them warm up tonight!

In the other tournament, we had to split into two smaller teams but still managed to finish 2nd and 3rd. Amazing! 🤩🥳

Our mixed 3/4 team played in a tournament last week which they all showed great resilience and positivity in! They may not have come away with any silverware but they were all still smiling at the end, which is all we ever hope for! 😊

A huge thank you to Sam and Neil this week (and all year!) for being the kids biggest supporters and the best coaches we could ask for, we wouldn’t be able to take part in these events without you!

A special thanks to Sam for sorting the school pitch out this morning ready for the games after school today.

That’s the end of our competitive football for this academic year, I’m hoping for a lot more next year!

Thank you to all the parents for your continued support, it doesn’t go unnoticed! 😊

⚽️ Our Year 5/6 Girls Football Team were absolute superstars in the tournament at Elkesley yesterday afternoon! We’re very proud of them all 🤩

They were fearless and came away as well deserved champions after winning both of their matches! 🏆

A huge thank you to Sam, once again, for coming along to coach them! ⚽️

⚽️⚽️⚽️ We could not be more proud of our footballers today! 🤩 They arrived knowing that there was a huge challenge ahead of them, (we may have lost by double figures to the same team last year 🤫🫣) but they were unphased! With outstanding goals from Connor and Jamie, we came so close to a win. It may have been a 3-2 defeat but all the children should be so proud of themselves! Well done to each one of you, you all played your part today, thank you! A special thank you to Coach Sam too! ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Year 6 are having a great time at the TEAM education Trust careers day.
The police and fire and rescue services have been a big hit so far!

Coming soon…Sponsored circuit/ fitness event to raise money for PE equipment.

As you will have seen in the newsletter, we will soon be welcoming an athlete from the ‘Great Athletes’ company, who will be leading the children in an exciting, energetic sponsored fitness circuit on Tuesday 4th February!

Our athlete is Joe Roebuck, a GB swimmer. As well as running the fitness session he will share his sporting journey, in a fun and interactive assembly about the importance of resilience and determination. There will also be an opportunity to ask any questions in a Q&A session at the end!

The children will be bringing home a letter and sponsorship form, this week, to explain more about the event.
