As part of Year 2's Enquiry question, 'Who's voice matters when people disagree?' we visited the Civil War Museum. The children took part in two workshops which allowed them to learn about Newark's part in the Civil War. They learnt about the buildings that were affected, tried on clothes and armour, learnt about King Charles I and Parliament as well and other significant people during this time. The children explored the museum and got to see artefacts from this historical period. A super learning day for all! Many thanks to our parent helpers that joined us too.

🐝 Our EYFS Scarecrow has landed at Maxeys Farm Shop! 🌻🌿

We are so excited to share our insect-themed scarecrow, created with lots of imagination, creativity and hard work by our wonderful EYFS children!

Our scarecrow has been entered into the Maxeys Farm Shop Scarecrow Competition. 💛

If you’re able to pop along to Maxeys Farm Shop over the next few weekends or October half term holidays, please take a look at all the fantastic scarecrows and don’t forget to vote for ours! 🐝

🏆 Empowering Excellence nationally! 🥈

We are incredibly proud to share some national sporting success!

This week, Jacob took part in the Compnet UK Jiu-Jitsu Championship, competing alongside athletes from across the country. We are delighted to announce that our very own Jacob achieved an incredible 2nd place in the national competition, bringing home a silver medal! 🥈

A huge achievement and a brilliant testament to the courage, resilience and determination Jacob showed throughout the competition.

Yesterday Reception went back in time! They explored what it would have been like to go to school in the Victorian Era; paying a penny to go to school, learning about what happened if they did something wrong, writing in chalk and referring to our teacher as "Ma'am". The children loved being immersed in the past and did some fantastic acting.

📚 FREE Phonics Practice for Parents Course

We know that phonics can sometimes feel a little unfamiliar, particularly when the way children learn to read may be different from how we were taught ourselves. In our recent parent feedback, families also told us they would welcome more information and support around phonics.

So, we’re really pleased to be hosting a FREE 3-week Phonics Practice for Parents course at Newark Flying High Academy, delivered by Inspire Adult Learning.

The sessions will help you understand how phonics is taught in school, build your confidence and give you practical ideas for supporting your child with reading and phonics at home.

📅 Thursdays: 1st, 8th & 15th October
⏰ 9:15am–11:15am

💷 Completely FREE

Starting school is a big milestone, and we want to make the process as simple and reassuring as possible. That’s why we’re proud to be working with our local nurseries to support children and families as they prepare for Reception. 💙

Our first Ready for Reception event is tomorrow, Wednesday 16th September at 5.30pm, for families from Serendipity Nursery.

Come along to explore our Reception environment, meet the team and get practical advice on admissions and preparing your child for school.

Over the next few weeks, we look forward to welcoming families from other nurseries across Newark.
