Last full teaching week of the academic year means practice sheets galore.

Summer challenge, practice records and ideas for practice when you're in a tent, on a plane or up a mountain and just can't get to a piano.

We're working hard to get ready for the Kneesall Music Marathon in 2 weeks' time. 18 students will present duets in every major and minor key - quite a feat!

There are still tickets left for all events that wèekend, with all profits going to Kneesall's commumity centre and church building.

I was delighted to be asked to contribute to this mini series in EPTA's Piano Professional magazine, sharing how I started Suzuki training 10 years ago and have never looked back. Whether you go the whole hog and run a Suzuki teaching studio or add level 1 to your teaching toolkit there's so much for students and teachers to gain.

A lovely concert on Saturday with everyone from the "Acorns" (some of whom only started lessons this term) through to the "Major Oaks" performing beautifully. We had solos, duets and even 4 pianos all together, lots of Christmas music, and some carol singing so that the audience could join in. The bring and share tea was also a highlight of course!

A real treat this morning seeing Rachel Cheung at the Royal concert hall. Beethoven, Schumann and Liszt followed by 2 encores - Rameau and Satie.

We were able to meet Rachel afterwards and talk to her. "How do you warm up in the mornings" and "what are your golden rules for practising" were our important questions and top of her list was one simple word - SLOWLY.

If you want to introduce children to classical piano the Sunday Morning Piano Series is a must. It's advertised as general admission in the stalls, but when you turn up with children they take you up to the balcony. We had a bird's eye view and everyone felt very special.
