We ended the week with a trip to the bakery for Christmas tree cookies!
The children popped into sainsburys to buy some cornflour, and then back at home we made pretend snow so the children could explore snow and ice with our artic animals! ❄️❤
The children enjoyed a tasty lunch of fish fingers with homemade chips, and had a cosy nap with the sparkly fairy lights 🎄
Lilybugs Childminding service
Lilybugs childminding services is a home based childcare setting in New Mills. We welcome children
Operating as usual
I know a lot of children would like to be able to see Santa Claus in person before Christmas.
Both of these events are New Mills based for the little ones to access ❤
The rotary club Santa visit is tonight! (08/12/23)
And the fire station is the 16th (next saturday)
What a busy week!
Monday was a day filled with play dough and gingerbread pictures!
Tuesday was a visit to a community playgroup and then lots of Christmas stories and songs.
Wednesday the children took a trip to the shops, created some frozen sun catchers with flowers and leaves (which didn't freeze🤦♀️) they painted some fabulous Christmas tree pictures together, and explored different textures in shaving foam messy bags!
Thursday we went to St Georges playgroup where the children explored mega blocks, followed a recipe to make their own reindeer food and helped to put up the schools Christmas tree!
Every day we also find time for cosy snuggly naps, stories, toast, and hot tasty lunches! ❤
The children enjoyed a lovely cosy story time sat by V's Christmas tree today, and we had great fun learnig some christmas songs together ❤
Last Wednesday our children headed out on a nature treasure hunt!
We looked for trees, berries, birds, hats, ice and much more. The children were excellent detectives and loved pottering about exploring the local area.
We guided our treasure hunt up to the shops where we popped into the butchers for fresh pork pies for snack, and then into village saver to buy peanuts, mixed seed and mealworm.
Once back at home the children enjoyed hot chocolates with their fresh pork pies to defrost.
Then we had a wonderful time looking at the bird seeds, mixing in the meal worms and using the scoops and funnels to make their own seed mix to take home for the birds in their gardens.
On Thursday we headed to playgroup and had a lovely morning building duplo and colouring wildlife pictures, followed by sticky feather bird crafts and more hot chocolate on Friday!
Today the children have coloured in their gingerbread creations for Potts bakery which they will drop off tomorrow, and then got creative with nutmeg scented playdough ❤
(and enjoyed some potato letters with lunch because Kim didn't cook the mash quick enough! 🤦♀️)
They will never again be as little as they are right now. 💜
Let them splash, they will soon dry ❤
What a busy week spent with this fabulous bunch!
We've been reading the story "The tiger who came to tea" and the children have loved it!
The children took a trip to the charity shops to choose some real tea cups and tea pots for their play kitchen, as they are far to sensible for plastic ones 😉
We've enjoyed tea parties, spotting Christmas decorations, tasty hot lunches, playing with our friends, reading books, playing duplo, colouring tiger pictures, and visiting playgroups!
Try: Alexa play 'Hey Tiger by Robbie Williams"
Your babies love it ❤🐯
***** thanks to the wonderful new mills community we have our wellies back! 💜****
We've lost a pair of wellies this morning! If they are spotted please collect them and let me know! ❤
It's finally all sorted!
Resignation for Reyal handed in and I am officially Ofsted registered.
Please stand by for new contracts and new tax free info which I will get to everyone ASAP! ❤🎉
Today we made rainbow rice rangoli patterns!
The children loved exploring colours and textures, creating beautiful patterns, and mixing the rice together to create rainbows!
(I apologise for everyone's slightly yellow socks 😆)
*Quick reminder to all that I am not working thos Friday as its Roos birthday 🎉🎂*
As the weather is getting colder we've kitted our children house with cosy hats and mittens!
There is enough for everyone to use when they are with me for the day, and they look incredibly cute even if I do say so myself 💚
Yesterday we celebrated a birthday!
One of our friends was 2! We celebrated with tasty birthday cupcakes 🎂
Today we visited playgroup where we dressed up, used the doll house, read stories, bounced on the trampoline, looked after the babies, and rode trikes....
On the way home we practised our road safety, and played in the autumn leaves 💜🍁
There are two special celebrations this weekend.
Remembrance Sunday & Diwali
The children had great fun making some poppies and Diwali lamps, and watched some beautiful little clips on the i-player about both events ❤
On Thursday we run St Georges playgroup, the children help to set up the activities, enjoy playing and then help clear away afterwards.
Today we played with pumpkin playdough, had a soft play session, enjoyed some tasty toast and then headed to join our friends for a homemade cottage pie lunch!
Tomorrow we will be busy crafting Diwali lamps and remembrance poppies! ❤
Today the children have relived their bonfire night experiences....
We have watched some fireworks displays, painted some fireworks pictures, and had a fabulous indoor firework party with our glowsticks, fairy lights, projectors and music! ❤
We wished a huge Happy Birthday to one of our friends today, and celebrated with lots of singing, balloons, and plenty of cake!
(That number 3 candle has been in use for 26yrs now! ❤)
We ended the week with a few days at home.
We played paw patrol, built with stickle bricks, raced cars, danced around the kitchen, and ate some delicious hot lunches and puddings!
**Reminder to all parents that half term starts tomorrow. This means no school run, so please drop off and collect all children at the house at their usual contracted times.
All children will need wellies and a coat this week. Although we are more relaxed with routines in half term, we will still go outside.
Advance notice that no extra hours/days will be offered this week due to it being my children's half term, and me trying to make sure they get as much of my time as possible around my mindees ❤
Yesterday the children explored pumpkins and vegetables. We cut, we peeled and we prodded.
Today we put those bits of chopped veg to good use and made painted prints with them!
We looked at which veg was easiest to hold, which left the best shape, and which ones were most like paintbrushes!
The children really seemed to enjoy this activity and created some fabulous works of art!
This was not the plan for today.
I planned crafts, fire engines, cars, stories...
I also had a lovely display of pumpkins around my fire just because its autumn 🤷♀️
The children were very interested in the pumpkins, which progressed to a discussion on veg. We pulled some veg from the fridge and looked at textures, colours, and smells. We then peeled and chopped some veg and the smallest pumpkin to see how the insides were different colours. Some were slimy, some had seeds, some were wet.....
So much was learned from this rather impromptu activity 🎃🥔🥕🌽
Pumpkin playdough was a huge hit with the children on Friday! 🎃🍁🍂🎃
The week in pictures so far.....
On Monday we explored our autumnal tray, drew lots of pictures, read stories, and had a few sneaky biscuits!
On Tuesday we all walked to playgroup, checked before crossing roads, held hands, listened well, and then had the best time exploring the group independently whilst knowing our safe adults were near by. Everyone's favourite thing was the dressing up costumes!
On Wednesday we went to find some sheep. We found the sheep, ducks, llamas, some friendly dogs, a heron, a few trains, and the muddiest puddle you ever did see!
Obviously all the children had great fun getting themselves covered head to toe in mud, and everyone's shoes needed a good wash!
On Thursday we visited another playgroup, played with the doll houses, had lots of fun helping tidy away playmats, were extra helpful finding our own coats and shoes at home time, spotted some squirrels, and made friends with the vicars dog!
Friday is being spent as a home day with pumpkin playdough, spooky stories, crafts, and the fire engines out to play with 😁
Lunches this week have been Corn beef hash (x2), meatballs, shephards pie, and tomorrow is chicken soup.
We pride ourselves on serving fresh, hot, homecooked dinners to fuel little bodies ready for adventures!
I'll let pictures speak for themselves today 💜
Happy, grubby, beautiful children full of curiosity and laughter. The perfect way to spend a wet Wednesday morning!
We started the week off on a high and got stuck in with some painting!
The children are at that beautiful age where painting is not yet about the creation at the end, but about the gloopy wet slime on the back of their hands, spreading colour up to their elbows, the splodging of the sponges, the droplets of paint that get splattered up their cheeks, the swirling of brushes until the colours all melt into a delightful shade of brown, and the hot soapy sink bath they get when they are finished with the messy sensory experience that is painting.
The sheet of paper they end up with at the end is simply a bonus ❤
The children have also enjoyed a trip to the park, a morning at playgroup, some walks in the fresh air where they practiced the green cross code (stop, look, listen, look again....) and some delicious homemade lunches!
Wednesday is messy play morning! (The orange framed photos) please do make sure your child is dressed in clothes you don't mind getting messy, and if I don't have spares for your child please do send some! 😁
Today we collected leaves, acorn cups, conkers and all manner of autumn treasures!
We found worms, spiders, slugs and squirrels.
We learned that conker shells make us say "ouch" with their spikes, and that conkers are smooth.
We learned that slugs are slimy and not pleasant to touch 😬
Then we came home for auric session, tasty pizza and a snuggly nap time ❤
This week the children have been looking at autumn animals! Squirrels, hedgehogs, and owls (we heard some fabulous owl noises!)
We've built our animals some houses out of bricks, we've read stories about baby owls, we've visited playgroup, splashed in even more puddles, built train tracks and snuggled for cuddles and cosy naps!
Tomorrow morning we are heading out for some fresh air after the morning school run, so please remember wellington boots and waterproofs! Your child will need these tomorrow as we are off to dig under rocks and collect autumn treasures 🍁🍂
This week's lunches have been....
Monday: tortellini with garlic wraps.
Tuesday: sausage casserole and mash potatoes.
Wednesday: homemade vegetable soup (or a rice dish to cater for dietary needs)
Thursday: pesto pasta with chicken and salad.
Friday..... I'm making everyone tasty homemade pizzas for their lunch! ❤
How is it only Wednesday? 😱
The children have been so busy this week!
We've visited a playgroup, explored our autumn treasure tray, splashed in puddles, practiced walking sensibly and stopping at the edge of the footpath, read lots of stories, sang beautifully with our friends, eaten some tasty homemade dinners, and got ourselves absolutely covered head to toe in paint!
The children loved the painting session. It was planned to be potato printing, but the children got more out of the sensory experience of painting their bodies with their hands and the brushes.
All the children loved looking at their reflections afterwards, and were pointing out their paint splodges on their tummies!
Everyone had a quick sink bath, but everyone will need a good scrub this evening ❤
We've welcomed autumn into our setting today! My favourite time of year ❤
This week has been a rather soggy one whilst out and about with the children!
*Our children have visited playgroup which helps them explore in a larger group and gain independence, whilst knowing their safe adult is still close by.
*They have enjoyed exploring in the messy tray. We started with dry cereal and animals, but ended the day with scoops, cups and buried treasure in our cereal tray! (Lots of cereal was eaten! 🤣)
*We have jumped in lots of puddles! Please do send your child in wellies on rainy days, as they all love puddle jumping ❤
Not only is this ridiculous amounts of fun, but it also helps young children learn balance and co-ordination skills!
*We dug out the toy garage this week (poor thing is 24yrs old and still going strong!) The children all helped to give it a bath as it was a bit muddy after being in the garden, and it has been this weeks favourite toy!
*Today we tried to make pizza, but the children were far more interested in just eating the cheese 🤦♀️ so I took over making pizza for lunch, and the children got busy creating a huge picture together with plenty of autumn colours, and lots of sticky glue!
This week's lunches were:
Mon: pasta bake.
Tues: toad in the hole with mash & veg.
Weds: hot pot with dumplings & bread.
Thurs: cheesy meatball wraps.
Fri: homemade pizza.
**Parent reminder that I am off work Friday 29th September - next week😁 **
A busy week in the sun last week!
We went exploring with our friends on the sett valley trail, and found some wiggly worms! We moved them.off the path and into the grass for safety.
Everyone loved playing in the ice trays, it helped cool everyone off on a hot day.
Lots of tasty rats were eaten and there were ice lollies pretty every day 😁
Today we enjoyed playing ball in the garden, balancing on skateboards and hunting for spiders!
After hours I took delivery of our new bigger slide (Facebook bargain! ❤) that I'm sure the children will love!
A few polite reminders ready for Monday.... ❤
*Please ensure all children are fed a proper breakfast before arrival. We are back to school next week so our morning routine no longer allows time for children to have a late breakfast here and they will have to wait until we get back to the house (which is lunch time on some days)
*Please ensure your child arrives with a coat. We will go out daily regardless of weather. You will now be asked to go home and collect a coat for your child if it is forgotten
*Our garden has been redone over my week off. Please do not let your child climb on the wooden gate at the front under any circumstances. It is now attached to the new fence and it will break if expected to hold the weight of a child (and I will cry 🤣🤣)
*** A final reminder - invoices were sent 10 days ago. Please ensure they are paid in full ASAP to avoid late fees ***
