📣 One Big Thank You – National Thank a Teacher Day 💙 - 17 June 2026

Yesterday, we celebrated National Thank a Teacher Day by inviting students, parents and our wider community to share their messages of appreciation for Fullbrook staff, and what a response we received!

The quotes shared paint a powerful picture of life at Fullbrook, one built on care, encouragement and genuine connection. They highlight teachers who go above and beyond, inspiring confidence, nurturing potential and creating classrooms where every young person feels seen, supported and able to succeed.

The Principal and Senior Leadership Team are immensely proud of the dedication, compassion and professionalism shown by our staff. Together, they have created a culture where relationships matter, achievements are celebrated and every individual is encouraged to thrive.

This strong sense of community is what makes Fullbrook such a special place to learn and grow, and a school our staff can be truly proud of.

💙 Thank you to all our incredible teachers and staff for everything you do, every single day.

On Tuesday 14 July Fullbrook will be hosting a screening of the 'Peoples Emergency Briefing'.

The UK faces a growing climate and nature emergency. Yet most people have never been fully briefed on what it means for our lives, our economy and our future.

This new film from the National Emergency Briefing sets out the risks facing the nation - and the credible, positive responses available - in a clear and accessible account designed for screenings in communities across the UK.

There is no cost - booking a ticket is required as the school hall has a maximum capacity. There are lots of screenings happening so if you can't make the 14th July at Fullbrook, you might find something closer to home or a more convenient date.

This is an ideal opportunity to get quickly up to speed on how climate breakdown is likely to affect current and following generations here in the UK and it gives some insight into the positives that can be achieved by dealing with these issues and making the transition away from fossil fuels as quickly as possible.

This briefing is not available online - it is an in person event intended to spark the discussions needed about what our next steps should/could be as individuals and as adults/parents/grandparents.

Feel free to forward the webpage link to your family and friends and share this post on your social media.

Next Wednesday 17th June 2026 is National Thank a Teacher Day

This month we are celebrating the incredible impact teachers have on young people’s lives, often in ways that stay with us forever.

For our Principal, Miss Wallis, that teacher was her music teacher, Mr Tubb:
“His passion, expertise and belief in his students inspired me not only to study music at university, but also opened the door to a world of cultural experiences and opportunities that I might never otherwise have encountered. It is no exaggeration to say that his influence helped shape the course of my life.”

Many of us can name that one teacher, the one who inspired us, challenged us, supported us, or helped us see possibilities we’d never considered. Their encouragement can last a lifetime.

At Fullbrook, we know teaching is demanding, exhausting and full of challenges, but it is also the best job in the world. Every day brings the chance to make a difference, and we are passionate about shaping the future by inspiring our students to achieve great things, whatever path they choose.

💙 We’d love to hear from you, Parents, alumni and our wider community; we would like to invite you to thank a member of Fullbrook staff who has made a difference to you or your child. Whether it’s a teacher, teaching assistant, pastoral team member, office staff, site team or any colleague who has supported you, your message matters.

Help us celebrate the people who make Fullbrook such a special place.

Celebrating Our Gold DofE Achievers!

On Friday 22nd May, Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award recipients were invited to a special celebration event at Buckingham Palace, marking an incredible 70 years of the The Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Alongside award holders, volunteers from organisations delivering the programme were also invited. We are proud to share that Mr Johnson attended on behalf of Fullbrook, where he had the pleasure of meeting Katherine S, one of our outstanding Gold Award students.

Set in the beautiful palace gardens, the day featured performances from military bands, inspiring speeches from well-known guests, and an address from the Duke of Edinburgh himself. The event celebrated the dedication and achievements of these young people, who have shown remarkable perseverance and resilience across their volunteering, physical, skills, and expedition sections.

One powerful message from the day stood out: “The price of ambition is failure.” The DofE journey teaches students to embrace challenges, learn from setbacks, and keep pushing forward , values we are incredibly proud to see in our students.

At Fullbrook, we are delighted to support our Year 9 and 10 students as they work towards their Bronze and Silver awards, and we look forward to many more of them progressing to Gold and celebrating their achievements at events like this in the future! 👏✨

We’d like to wish all of our Year 11 students the very best of luck as they leave Fullbrook and begin their study leave.

On Friday afternoon, Mr Conquer and the Year 11 team led a powerful and reflective assembly, celebrating the students’ time at the school and recognising their many achievements. Certificates, sweets and Amazon vouchers were presented, and two lucky students were thrilled to receive a complimentary prom ticket each.

Following the assembly, our Year 7 students formed a proud guard of honour, lining the route from the main school to F6 and applauding the Year 11s as they made their way through. It was a lovely send-off for our leavers.

The afternoon concluded with the much-anticipated annual Year 11 Leavers’ BBQ, where students enjoyed signing each other’s shirts while soaking up the first of the summer sunshine in the F6 garden.

We wish Year 11 every success in the remainder of their exams and look forward to welcoming them back after half term.

Fullbrook Students Crowned Champions at National Reading Competition 🏆📚

On Wednesday, our amazing reading team travelled to London for the Grand Final of the Senior National Reading Champions Quiz, after winning our regional heat back in February… AND THEY WON!!!

Competing against 23 schools from across the UK, our team tackled 8 challenging rounds covering everything from myths and legends to poetry, comedy, horror, and tricky book brainteasers. Their teamwork was outstanding, and their love of reading truly shone throughout the day.

It was a brilliant celebration of reading for pleasure, hosted by the National Literacy Trust. A special highlight was the author panel, where students asked thoughtful questions to 3 of our team who received a signed copies of their books!

Huge congratulations to our Reading Champions: You’ve done us so proud!
