A new year at Brockwood! The quiet land in this beautiful corner of the earth had been awaiting the return of the students from all over the world when they finally arrived back last Wednesday, coming from around 20 different countries and filling the place with energy, hugs and smiles.
The first 10 days are a period to get to know each other and the place, but right from the beginning students can get involved and feel it is not just a school but also their home, hanging out with others in the Sitting Room or helping wash the dishes after a meal. It is also a time for students to learn about the different learning opportunities on offer through presentations and class fairs, and to build their own personal timetables, choosing what to study and how to fill their week.
On the first weekend, it is all about the apples! So many of them are waiting to be harvested, juiced and processed each year when the students arrive, and this year was no exception. On Saturday, the whole school joined in for our yearly Apple Harvest, and by the evening everyone’s work had turned into delicious juice and warm crumble, followed by our first Movie Night in the Sitting Room.
And in between all the activity and excitement, some students found the time to go for a stroll and soak in the quiet, beautiful land that surrounds them here.
Off to a new year of learning!
